My phone is near useless right now. I'm waiting for 2degrees to port my Vodafone prepay number, and I have 11 cents credit.

I can either put my 2degrees sim card in, and I'll be uncontactable unless I spend a night telling everyone in my hefty contacts list my new details.. and then reverse the process later when I get my number ported over.. Or I can stick with Vodafone and be reachable but not have any outgoing communication..

This is the longest "8 hours" I've ever had to wait!

Whats Vodafone doing?!

I requested the number port on Saturday..

If I text IOU, then my sim card will be in debt and the port will not be able to be actioned.

But its okay, I think I needed a vent. I'll just bite the bullet tomorrow and finally put in the new sim card. I thought I'd ring 2degrees and find out what the story was, but I've been on hold for 1 hour 25 minutes now..

It would be a bit silly putting your new sim card in and telling everyone that this was your temporary new number then reversing it back in a day or 2 time. According to this thread

http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=85&topicid=39814

Vodafone have had a good 5000 odd requests for number ports and have said they should have released them by tomorrow Friday. I actually did 2 number ports as I didnt think the first one worked and the 2nd time I tried it happened inside 15 minutes but after wards 2degrees came onto the thread and advised everyone not to do that. So I would say give it till tomorrow before you tell everyone your new number and then revert back to your old one.

Ports work with an outstanding IOU on them just fine, have now done 2 myself and have had a relative do one as well..

IOU is the most annoying thing since I had $5.40 on the phone, wanted the 100 meg addon, but no dice - IOU only works with under $1 - better then when it was under 20c so you had to send some random off network texts to get it down enough to IOU to make a phone call...
