Topic # 65696 5-Aug-2010 23:28 Send private message

After ages of happily MMSing on VFNZ tonight made the switch to 2Degrees.

Happy as larry.

Until I couldnt get my MMS to work.

Gets data ok through the EDGE but MMS no go.

Followed instructions from http://www.2degreesmobile.co.nz/iphone

but no joy.

Help?

bump and massive kudos to 2D!

Started number porting about midnight and I woke up to a text message saying it had been successfully ported.

In my industry(as in all probably) a key driver is customer satisfaction and expectations.

In this switch 2D have way exceeded my expectations!

Did you get mms working?

Yeah I just switched my GF's phone over last night, except for some reason their website does not like older PC's so I had to do it for her but yeah she was away this morning.

The only question I have is about the text packs. I don't use them because I end up with 100's of free ones that I'll never use.

But it states that it will auto re-new the packs (if) there is enough credit on the phone. My concern is that if she forgets to top up in time and there is not enough credit; she will have to send the purchase text again or she might not send it and use all her credit up =[

The reason I am concerned is because she is pissed I made her switch and anything that requires a change compared with Telecom's automatic/easy $10 text is an issue.

If you don't have enough credit when the pack tries to renew, you will go into a grace period for up to 7 days. If you topup within that time, the pack will renew.

iPad + iPhone 4S + 2degrees 3G data 4tw!

Nope still havent got MMS enabled.

Possibly the problem is that the "mms" APN does not seem to want to stay.

Everytime i put it in it disappears as soon as I go out of the network settings.

Does it revert to VF's settings when you go back in? Strange that it's accepting the internet settings. Where did you buy the phone, VF NZ? Are you using OS4?
Are your settings as below, leaving Internet Tethering APN, Username and p/word blank?
APN: mms
MMSC: http://mms.2degreesmobile.net.nz:48090
MMS Proxy: 118.148.1.118:8080
Maximum Message Size: 300000

PS. Thanks for the comments btw!

hi,

Its a 2G first gen iPhone running OS 3.1.2.

No tethering info to enter at all.

When I enter "internet" as the data APN the data doesnt work yet when left blank I get the E logo and it works.

No it doesnt appear to be keeping the vodafone details in there.

It also asks for something called "MMS UA or Pfor URL" which could possibly be significant!

Nice, do they get a warning message?

Two, IIRC - one after 2 days, and one after 5.

True, you may need to jailbreak it first. Sorry I can't point you to a particular site. ^POB

Hrm.

I now figure out the reason the "mms" in the APN field wasnt sticking around was the fact that it didnt match the normal data APN.

Hmmm.

Even when i have mms in there it wont work.

I can receive MMS though.

Gah.

It worked fine with live.vodafone.com in there.

MMS will still probably work if you put "internet" as the MMS APN. However, you will be charged for data if you don't use the MMS APN.
