Topic # 73754 21-Dec-2010 14:23 Send private message

Hi

I sent an SMS to a member of my family in the UK earlier today.  I didn't get a message telling me there was an error, nor did I get any message stating that it couldn't get through.  I've just checked the 'My Usage' part of the 2 degrees website and it is listing the NZ based numbers I have texted today, but not the UK one I sent a text to.  Does it only show up when the provider in the UK passes the text to the persons mobile, or should it show up straight away?

Would be good to know the answer so I know if I need to resend or something else.

Cheers.

Out of curiousity, is the 'My Usage' page a wee bit behind on what you're doing? It doesn't actually show any of my usage today at all... Normal?

It depends, but it's not realtime, that's true. It will show the international SMS eventually, but do be aware that it shows you SENT it, not necessarily that it was received.

Hi Salty,

Thanks for the reply.  I'm not entirely bothered about it being recieved per se, it was more that it hadn't shown on the system yet.  As you said, 'My Usage' is not updated in realtime, but is there a timeframe for updates i.e. daily, hourly etc?  Or is it a little more random with a small fairie pressing buttons in the dungeon when given some food? Tongue out

We found that fairies weren't worth the hassle. They're all unionised.

Zombies, on the other hand, are perfectly happy to feed of what's left of the fairies.

I'm not sure what the target is though, I'm afraid, since it's outside my area.

Can haz moar zombies maybe?

haha awesome.  Zombies.  not only brain dead but you can poke them too.

Sorry I meant how often are the updates to 'My Usage' applied (i.e. it gets updated hourly, daily) not when is realtime going to be implemented.  bad choice of words by me!

Well, the site is updated with more or less an ongoing stream. It's not updated in regular batches as such. But I don't know what the target delay between now & when it appears on self-care is (there are quite a few processing steps in between). I believe I have seen it as low as half an hour?

Interesting.  I've only got up to yesterday for all my usage.  Nothing as of today.
