Topic # 91157 7-Oct-2011 16:36 Send private message

I am staying in centre of Timaru where Vodafone has no 3G coverage, and where the 2G is so weak my vodem gets no signal but phone does. So that I'm not without net for the time I am here I bought a Nokia C1 call/text only phone so I can leave my "good" phone tethered for net.

Today I got message "message cannot be displayed" 667667; which I strongly suspect is because I've been sent a MMS. Its quite important I retrieve this message if its what I think it will be.

Can I view the message online, or somehow view on other phone, or get it resent from this end, or is it lost forever.

Yep, it means you're try to receive an MMS on your non-MMS capable phone.

I'm afraid they'll have to re-send it to you when your SIM is in a MMS capable phone.

Don't the other providers send a message to non MMS phones and redirect to an external URL? It's been a wile since I have used a brick.

Only if they know the phone the SIM is in isn't MMS capable. Once you've used MMS the network knows the phone supports MMS and will always attempt to deliver them.

You can't, I'm afraid. It's a binary coded message that tells the handset where to go to download the message. It doesn't actually have the message content in it.

iPad Air + iPhone 5S + 2degrees 4tw!

Annoying! My mum gets these messages a couple of times a week but can't imagine anyone who would be constantly mms-ing her!!! Wonder if its a 2 degrees error.
