Is there an announced date that 2degrees will be live in Napier?

When I search for networks I can see 2degrees along with Vodafone NZ and Telecom NZ but when I insert my 2degrees sim I still get connected to Vodafone NZ. I assume it is still in the testing stage?

Just curious as when I can see cheaper data hit Hawkes Bay :)

Yep, we're still testing and optimizing atm so I can't give a 'Go Live' date just yet, sorry. Suffice to say VERY soon! ;0)

We'll let you know when it's up and running and you're able to get great MBB value!

Cheers

Changed subject because, really, the previous one was meaningless.

Is it a fair assumption that this will include Hastings as well?

You would think it would include Hastings as i notice UMTS 2Degrees is a  broadcasting network when passing through the expressway (searched besides Omahu Road) in October and that was a month ago :)

Yes, Hastings is coming, but there is no particular date yet - it will open up to subscribers when the radio team are satisfied that the performance is acceptable (i.e., 'when it's ready' as Valve would say).

And after that there's a reasonably long period of tweaking and optimising before the new sites will be officially added to the Broadband Zone. Although, as I noted somewhere else, as long as you're on 2degrees the broadband packs will work. We just prefer not to advertise places where there's still a good chance you would wander back onto Vodafone without realising.

Any update on this? Off to visit Napier soon, and want to use some of my 2degrees credit for mobile broadband.

Might be available before Christmas, but the weather has not been helpful for laying power cables to sites, unfortunately.

I was following the backhaul DMR links on the RSM website and they are everywhere.
Towers out at havelock, hastings, bridge pa aerodrome, centre of hastings, stortford lodge, awatoto,
I am pretty sure i was driving past mclean park and saw some new DMR links up on the vodafone lighting tower so i am assuming they are colocating there.

I cant remember exact details but i think there was a DMR link between napier and hastings which i remember at the time thinking it cant be true but i cant remember what the locations are.

Anyhow the biggest change i have noticed is that my vodafone signal has gone to crap since these new 2d towers started poppiing up. Though thats an uneducated opinion.
