Rather than just posting a link from another site, how about actively starting a discussion?

If on-net pricing is so evil why have 2d not stopping offering it?

Surprise, Surprise I agree with you namely their prepay on-net discount when topping up a prepay account.

And

Whether you have 2 or 22 people in your team, with Free Calling Groups on your 2degrees Business account you and your team can talk to each other as much as they like for FREE. And it won't use up the minutes on your standard monthly plans. It's the perfect way for everyone in your business to keep in touch with one another

The Commerce Commission need to get a grip and accept that on-net pricing isn't the end of the world. Even the OECD's telco anaylst who visited here last year for the MTAS conference expressed surprise in a Radio NZ interview that people were actually paying for on-net calls in NZ, as it was so common overseas to get this for free.

As for the media spin from 2degrees, they really need to kill the hypocrisy because it's making them look like the biggest tool in the toolbox.

"Let?s hope the next Vodafone press release shows real commitment to great value and announces the end of on-net pricing altogether,"

How about a commitment from 2degrees to end on-net pricing? Maybe if they lead by example others may follow?

I'm still waiting to see the resultant pass through from the regulation of voice termination rates. And to be clear I am referring to the prepay casual rate only which has been sitting at 44 cents per minute and 9 cents per text since they launched in August 2009.

The wholesale  voice termination rate is now 5.88 cents per minute reducing to 3.8 cents per minute on 1 April 2012.

2Degrees have always stated they have built this into there pricing before they launched!

Then what about non mobile? I have free on net calling with Worldxchange, VFX-VFX. Should this be ended too?

Chorus has spent $1.4 billion on making their ADSL broadband network faster. Why not spend a couple of hundred to make sure you are getting the most out of your connection?
Geekzone special price: $150* for master splitter install, normally $200+ through your ISP. Auckland and Waikato areas.
*Travel charges may apply. Additional costs may apply for complex installs.
I install - Naked DSL, DSL Master Splitters, VoIP, RBI Rural Broadband. Also a dealer for WorldxChange.

Hi John yes I remember when they made that statement.

http://blog.2degreesmobile.co.nz/mobile-transfer-rates/
2degrees, New Zealand’s newest mobile network company, hopes the government will move quickly and accept today’s Commerce Commission recommendation on Mobile Termination Rates (MTRs).

2degrees chief operating officer, Bill McCabe, says the recommendation to regulate the charges operators make to connect calls to each others’ networks is a positive prelude to real improvements in mobile call rates.

And "free" local calls, but that can't be ended - the law says free local calling must be offered by law by Telecom to residential customers, so other providers offering a PLV solution don't really have a choice but to match this!

The only problem i have with the new best mates is i cannot adopt one onto my Smart2 plan otherwise i would be all over it in a flash...

Can someone better explain to me the jist of 2D's arguement? take a smart plan it has any network minutes and txts plus now any network bestmates up to 1000mins, where is the issue?

I do wonder how 2D will feel about on-net calling once they are not so reliant on roaming on VFNZ

EDIT: Is 2D arguing that VF need to offer me the same deal given my existing plan is not eligible? So 2D is helping my cause even though it will not help them out any

Telecom offers up to three my favourite on net deals for $6 per number why isn't 2 degrees hitting Telecom  up.

It just annoys me that I had to get my daughter(that was on 2degrees) a VF sim card because here friends (all VF) could not TXT her back, I guess it is how VF trap their customers and in fact sucks others in.
Lets not forget if it were not for 2D we would all be paying twice as much.

Now on Slingshot Better Network and it's better.

In defence of Vodafone they have had plenty of TXT offerings that offered on and off net TXT mesages.

The key factor however, was that until the start of the year the cheapest $12 offering didn't offer off net MS, and most prolific low use teen users don't want to spend a cent more than $12 per month.
