Passing through Taupo I've noticed that I'm not roaming on Vodafone but instead connected to 2degrees!
Perhaps more interesting is I'm connected to data on 900mhz rather than the usual 2100mhz which is deployed in ak/wel/chch/qtn - a most welcome development because it means much better data coverage.

We're also transmitting on 2100MHz so you can get Mobile Broadband too. :)

I think the previous poster was suggesting that 3G is available also on 900Mhz. Is this not the case?

I am now getting a 2degrees signal in Tahunanui, Nelson. Strangely my iPad has locked onto it but my iPhone has not despite both devices being set to automatic network selection. At this stage the iPad appears to be only picking up Edge - not 3G.

Is this the case everywhere there is a broadband zone?

Also will this on your coverage page be updated? its never mentioned the 900mhz 3G that comes from vodafone either

"If you like technical stuff, you'll want to know that we run a 900MHz GSM network. Data is provided using both GPRS and EDGE technology. Our 3G network is now up and running and we provide HSDPA at 2100MHZ within our Mobile Broadband Zones. Outside our Mobile Broadband Zones we use 2G 900 MHz or 3G 2100MHz."
