I managed to get one from Warehouse Stationary for $190, through their 10% price guarentee!
(Make sure they check the mailer on the website, it's still advertised as full price on the warehouse entry for the X5)

Hanging on the wall in the Palmerston North store right now.

(Actual phone is probably not made of cardboard though.)

Mate I felt like that when the Warehouse had those Huawei S7 Slim tablets going cheap. They were the same price actually and there were none locally, or even further afield actually.

I think the white has slightly different hardware to the black, my white has uses an amtel touchscreen instead of synaptics for example

To check what touchscreen you have on your X5

Dial * # * # 2846579 # * # *
Go to projectmenu, veneer information query, apparatus type query,
then you will see all hardware types

Reading about the Official Gingerbread from Huawei on the xda forums it doesn't work well for amtel screens yet.

Might be better with a custom rom like Oxygen. The X5 Oxygen port is developed by a kiwi so he may be sympathetic to fixing issues for people with amtel screens.

Haven't bothered mucking around with custom roms on mine yet so haven't got to far into it.

Bought one of these for "her in doors" when it was $299 in the Warehouse a little while back.  It was great value at $299.  At $199 its ridiculous value.  Put CM7 on it.  Works great.

In store special. I will save the Aucklanders the trouble, there are none available in auckland. Only place seems to be Nelson. According to TWL Albany.

Try Warehouse stationary.. The warehouse has it listed as "in stock" online.
The guy at warehouse stationary didn't bother calling anywhere, but just checked the warehouse mailer and went "Oh, it's $400 on their website, but OK, it's in their mailer" and gave me the deal.

Congrats to those who took advantage of this "typo", tried to get one today but 'sorry' signs claiming actual price $299.

Hmm I am a little miffed with them if that is the case.  Their brochure is still online, no warning no correction..
