jmumby: Congrats to those who took advantage of this "typo", tried to get one today but 'sorry' signs claiming actual price $299.

Under consumer rights you can and should be able to buy it at advertised price. Despite the mistake they made as its the ticket price.

On the commerce commission's website (although I am struggling to find it now) it said that they don't have to charge you ticket price, which flys against everything that I thought.

http://www.comcom.govt.nz/pricing/
It is important that businesses price goods clearly to ensure that consumers are not misled. When a customer sees a price sticker on a product or a shelf price, it is reasonable for them to expect that that is the price they will be charged at the checkout.

It is reasonable to expect? i would have thought it was without doubt to expect. Although this all seems post purchase, for example you were charged $5 a kilo for oranges rather than $4.50. I am not about to pay for the phone at $100 more get out to the car and go, wait a minute, isn't that $100 more?

The fact is I had to get a family member to go out of there way to get said product based on, the flyer, the store ticket at another warehouse and the online flyer, availability and confirmation of a warehouse employee over the phone. Only to find out they decided to up the price on Auckland Anniversary day, ala bait advertising.

From my recollection a shop is not entitled to honour something if it was a genuine mistake. However, as described above, if they have advertised it in printed flyers, online, and have been selling it at that price for days, then you'd have to wonder if it really was a typo or not.

The only exception was that the online price for the product did not ever match the in store price as the white version was not available online.

Did you try the warehouse stationary store price match? Though, it could be seen as a bit unethitical now that you know....

We don't have one on Otago, thought it was bit much making my sister go and bargain for a typo. The flyer is still up on the TWL site. Makes we wonder if a typo or not.

When I go to the warehouse web page, I can't see the mailer with it in it, the new mailer from tomorrow is shown.
The old one can be seen at this link though.

Ragnor: I think the white has slightly different hardware to the black, my white has uses an amtel touchscreen instead of synaptics for example

To check what touchscreen you have on your X5

Dial * # * # 2846579 # * # *
Go to projectmenu, veneer information query, apparatus type query,
then you will see all hardware types

Just checked my white x5 I got through the deal from Warehouse Stationary using the steps above, and, it says it's a Synaptics RMI4 screen, so, it appears to be luck of the draw.

So, the plot thickens. Now the $299 signs have gone up for the new mailer. But the current mailer is still valid. Soo rang again to find out why the phones are now available. Apparently this White Huawei IDEOS X5 has more features than the $199 Huawei IDEOS X5. Anyhue Mail Ordered my sub standard X5, see what turns up.

Just to let you know, the Warehouse Stationary ones were available for $179. I got a friend to pick me up one from the store and he got one for himself and me at $199 (he forgot to ask for the discount). Yesterday, he went back and got a refund of $40 (two phones) due to the 10% price match. This was after someone else I told about the deal got his for $179.

So, if you paid more that $179 for the phone at Warehouse Stationary, it may be worth trying to get a refund of the difference.

$179 for a white X5 with a Synaptics screen, just upgraded to Gingerbread...
I'm happy with the deal :-)

my phone just turned up and it is an atmel touch screen. I have been using a Vodafone 845 which is a terrible phone, think vista on a p4, with a resistive touch screen. This is a whole new world.

Gutted. Paid almost that for an LG P500 at The Warehouse only about 1 month ago. I looked at the X5 and thought no, can't afford the extra $200 or whatever is was. I guess I'd be more annoyed if I had paid the extra.

Ha, I'm in the same boat.  I now use a P500 and let my mother know about the X5 deal.  Looking through the specs every thing is significantly better on the X5.  Both are good for the price me thinks.
