Sweet hopfully they will put one in the middle of Greytown as well they will get most of the towns residents moving to them if they do as the current coverage comes from Carterton Featherston and Martinborough towers and is useless indoors and not that great outdoors either.

Havent partically had a problem in Masterton on Vodafone so they must not be in too badly located I only remember ever seeing vodafones one's in Masterton at the railway station and Kuripuni I don't know where Telecom's are.

I think there would probably be quite a few places ahead of Greytown to get coverage?
Also, the spelling in that letter is shocking.

They see me trollin'

Humans, quick to complain both about the potential health risks caused by cell sites (myth) and also lack of coverage of which are somehow the Telco's fault.

I bet you that lady smokes.

250M away? She'll barely be able to see the thing most likely. People love to whine about things.

I wonder if anyone has told her about cosmic rays?

"You are" = "You're" - Not "Your".  "They are" = "They're" - Not "Their" or "There".  You probably mean "lose" not "loose".  There's no such word as "Alot".

I love the final line in the newspaper article

A World Health Organisation report in 2010 found radiation from cell technology was a possible cause of cancer.

yeah, and the WHO added cell phones to a list that already included coffee and night shift work,

- gotta love balanced reporting on issues like this.....

Isn't solar irradiation like 1.5kw per square metre?

Great start i've been waiting for progress since i heard a "rumour" 2 Degrees had approached the council several months ago.

However I do hope more than two sites are planned as i think they will struggle to cover the whole of urban Masterton with those two. We have alot of problems with Vodafones coverage up the far end of Solway. We also have alot of people living in semi rural areas on the fringes of Masterton and from experience ground level cell sites struggle to reach these areas. Hence why Vodafone have an extra cell site on a hill and so do Telecom to ensure those areas are covered. 2 Degrees may want to look at that, theres plenty of capacity on the higher transmitters at Rangitumau and Otahoua for another provider. 2 Degrees have done this in the Horowhenua which gives coverage to the rural areas around Tokomaru, Foxton, Shannon so that leaves hope it's possible here.

A few weeks ago keen to know the progress for a variety of reasons i telephoned all three Wairarapa councils who are very good with freely providing this info and was told by South Wairarapa DC that they had never been approached by 2D so it appears a No for Greytown / Featherston / Martinborough at this stage.

Carterton DC and Masterton DC both advised permits were in the process of been sorted so it appears Carterton is getting something in the near future also.

Urban Telecom Towers:

Telephone Exchange, Lincoln Road (Opposite Masterton Medical) Masterton Central
In The Yard, Masterton Community Church, Ngaumutawa Road, Masterton West
Behind Copthorne Solway Park, High Street, Solway

Rural Telecom Towers:

Rangitumau Hill (On the large Chorus transmission tower to the north)
Mount Bruce (Provides coverage to the rural area to the north west of Masterton & SH2)

The only Vodafone one you didn't mention is co located with Kordia on Otahoua which is the hill is to the east of Masterton. (Commonly called Bennets Hill i think)

Only area of urban Masterton that Vodafone don't reach that well is Solway.. Can be difficult to make a call indoors in many parts. Outdoors is fine hence why they won't build a new cell site "we provide our coverage guide as street level"

As for Greytown i totally agree it's pretty dead on both Telecom / Vodafone indoors and even outoors in some parts. Telecom and Vodafone are both aware of Greytowns issue though i know multiple people who have reported it to them, it's always the same response "we will look into this further for you" Then nothing.

I used to work with a fellow back in the UK when I lived there for some time, who when he wasnt designing bleeding edge materials for british nuclear submarines he was involved in a study of man made signal spectrums and their health risks.
He was adamant they can be linked to health issues and it was covered up.

Shhhhh

They were to put one in Pinehaven near houses, but objections meant that it was moved to another location.. Also I believe the council halted work after the work didn't comply with something. So communities can change things.

I am sure there are some effects, albeit possibily minor, and/or affecting only some people. But then again there are health effects working down the road and breathing in car fumes. Bit I guess it is like smoking, and they won't know for a few decades, as you can't really simulate studies into it.
