Are there any mere mortals (ie. no special chorus/ISP hookups) either:

1) on DLM profile 1?
2) on a 17a profile?

I read in the tuning thread at least one person _was_ on the DLM-1 profile and I've read varying information about how you can/can't get on a 17a profile, I'm wanting to know if any standard user is currently on DLM1 or 17a right now without having had to do anything special.

It seems 17a doesn't really happen right now (depending on who you believe you either have to get chorus to do it manually, or you can't get chorus to do it manually and the DLM has to do it) but what about DLM-1?

Mine jumped quickly to DLM-2 (originally DLM-6, then jumped striaght to DLM-2 2nd (or 3rd?) sync) and the initial 10 days are almost up. Really happy with the connection, more just curious as to if others have been changed to DLM-1 or if it's a bit like 17a at this stage and doesn't really happen.

A few of us have been on DLM-1 for a reasonable period in the past, but now it seems to be unobtainable.... maybe Chorus have changed the requirements for this profile?? It seems odd tho because Napster basically lives in the cabinet and he can't even get DLM-1!

I'm on 17a profile. Apparently it's assigned dynamically without any human intervention.

How long have you been on VDSL regan?  And how long did it take to swap to 17a?

I signed up on the 12th June and it has been 17a since day one.

I should be on DLM-1 but it seems i have a dodge line or something. My disconnections caused a move to DLM-2.

@Regan, What is your line stats and spectrum tab like out of interest?

I've had "issues" with disconnections and poor line speeds but just about have it sorted (tracked it down to an induction problem occurring somewhere on the line between our house and the exchange between 9am - 5pm like clockwork every day). I've got a DrayTek router, but have the SNAP test router plugged in at the moment while we're troubleshooting the problem... I'll try copy/paste the line stats below and will include a Spectrum snapshot.

Max. DSLAM throughputkbit/s 70000 10360
Min. DSLAM throughputkbit/s 360 360
Attainable throughputkbit/s 24016 0
Current throughputkbit/s 24016 8456
Latency 16 ms 16 ms
Bitswap on on
Impulse Noise Protection 4.0 4.0
Signal-to-noise ratio dB 12 12
Line attenuation dB 20 -
Carrier record A43 A43
Profile17a

That's so weird!! Your line has issues, your attenuation is pretty bad, your spectrum is pretty shocking and yet you're on 17a!? Maybe it's a mistake and that's the cause of the actual issues?

How far are you physically from the cabinet?

That is so strange as it is not 17a Spectrum.

Well to answer the first question I am now on DLM1 since 4 days and my attenuation is 19dB, I don't really know what are the exact parameters that trigger the change though...I would have expected people "living in cabinets" to be on DLM1 pretty fast but apparently this is not that simple.

@maxzzz: So it put you on DLM-1 after the SNR tweaking or the other way around? And you're still running it tweaked right?  (I assume so from your screenshot)

I'm no expert but I find maxzzz being on DLM-1 almost as strange as regan being on 17a.

maxzzz: do you know if you had a higher sync rate previously when you were on a more conservative DLM profile?

(I'm assuming you can sync at a higher rate if you have more error correction on the line)

Not sure why everyone is obsessed with DLM-1. I think there are other factors far more important. Now 17a that is different that would be great to be on. It also seems the DLM-1 profiles are dropping the SNR way down to achieve this and I cant see that being a stable option. I am happy with 40Mb and no errors and a very stable connection.

Why do we all want DLM-1? Latency!! 1ms is 8 times better than 8ms! :)
