Hi, after joining SNAP for my internet and decommissioning my Linksys ATA, I have my 2 talk service running through the supplied fritzbox. There is one problem though..i occasionally get a squelching sound every 30 or so seconds. Any ideas what could be causing that or how I can go about troubleshooting it. I get the following stats for a typical call:

I've got 3 2talk trunks to my place and can have calls 5+ mins without any issues.

Terminated directly to some SIP phones and a DECT Phone via the FritzBox.

Iam thinking my fritzbox is faulty. Doing some tests with my old gear to confirm.

I have two lines.. Our "landline" on Fritz and an 028 I use from my iPhone. In the few weeks I've spent hours on both with no problems.

Can you post up some stats of your DSL line (Internet -> DSL Information -> DSL Tab) and the codec info from call list?

I'm assuming your Fritz is defaulting to G7.29. The squelching sound may be how G7.29 reacts when you lose some packets.

You have to hack the config file to change the preference in the Fritz but If you disable G7.29 in the 2talk control panel it will start using G7.11 instead.

Assuming you have the bandwidth available that may sound better. At least give it a shot and let us know.

1% packet loss is enough to start causing VoIP issues. You need to sort out where and why this packet loss is occuring.

I swapped the fritzbox with my old setup ie. TPLink DSL router + Linksys ATA and the problem has gone away. The packet loss is worrying though with the fritzbox. Dont get any with the TPLink
