And not in Australia.

Vodafone Australia embarks on cost-cutting programmeWednesday 25 January 2012 | 01:30 CET  Mobile operator Vodafone Australia will begin a cost-cutting programme that will see job cuts across the board. In an internal memo to staff, Vodafone chief executive Nigel Dews said a major business restructure was necessary to contain costs and to strengthen the company's position. "We need a smaller cost base from which to continue to build a financially strong, profitable and sustainable business at the same time as we continue to invest heavily in the network and vital spectrum assets," Dews said in the memo. Vodafone already confirmed it will combine its corporate communications, sales, and marketing units into a single business unit that will be led by sales head Noel Hamill, The Australian reports. The restructure is expected to lead to a large number of redundancies as the CEO warned of reductions in the size of the executive team.
