I'm looking forward to your review! Can I ask you to do a GPS comparison between it and what ever phone you have now?

Giggs: This is probably a bit of a dumb question but as I am soon to have two android devices when I get the nexus tablet, are the apps I have already purchased for use on my phone, locked to that device or one device at a time, or can I have them across multiple devices?

I login to 5 different devices with the same Google account and all the apps I have (ever!) bought are available on all of the devices.....except for the odd one where the market considers a device to be incompatible and unable to support the use of the specific app. I've seen it happen a couple of times but can't think of a specific example off the top of my head. There is always an alternative. IIRC, there were one or two phone apps I just couldn't see from my Honeycomb (Lenovo K1) tablet.....

Will be one of the things we cover, expect it will be inferior to the S3 as it lacks the GLONASS the S3 has (but should be fine for navigating purposes like other Tegra 3 devices).

Yeah I suspect it will be good too, I currently have the One X and I find it pretty bloody amazing on the GPS. More than good enough for my needs anyway. I think a 7" tablet mounted on the dash of the 4x4 would be perfect, hence my interest in GPS

Got mine this morning, had several hours with it after the initial update to 4.1.1 was pushed OTA on starting it up (after a period of charging that is). Not got a lot of time to post about it right now, been putting some thoughts to Twitter and will take questions from followers there too (always the best way to get up to the minute info on new devices in my hands Twitter).

My Visa Card was charged by Google last night for the Nexus 7, but no notification of shipping as yet.

Whole load of people upset that in the UK and US you can go into the shops and buy the 16G one without postage before Google Play have sent their pre orders out.

But then again a whole lot of people are being disappointed that the shops have already sold out.  People don't seem to understand that a pre order is not so you get one first, it is to ensure you get one.

If you don't pre order you just have to take your chance, as when I checked at St Luke's JB, DS, NL where only getting 16 between them all up, that right just 16.

Google Play have sent me a shipping email notification at 9:15pm NZ time 2:15am San Francisco.

UPS tracking site says label has been produced and item ready for pick up.  It is interesting to note that the label was generated on the 9th July.

One might speculate that google had meant to ship say the 10th 2 day delivery reach customers 12th July.  US shops start selling N7 13th July.

Everyone happy, but I think google had to delay shipping for some reason, and asked retailers to hold retail sales but couldn't.

Mine is supposedly on its way to ComGateway. Sounds like I _might_ get it by the end of the month if I'm lucky.

Hi

I use shipito on a per package base which is $8.50 US.  I looked at ComGateway web site and can not figure out how much they charge for the service, can you tell me and what your experience with them is please?

I've found ComGateway to be fine to deal with. A little slow to process things sometimes (can take a couple of days for them to get parcels forwarded), but pretty reliable, and the prices seem ok.

Their prices are here: http://www.comgateway.com/2012/red3.calculator.do?l=en&c=NZ

And

When I signed up several years ago, they were a better option for me than ShipItTo. I may need to revisit that however. Having a "physical" US address can be handy for other purposes too, such as sorting out warranty issues with "difficult" companies.

I am not understanding What is their fee where do they make their money, hidden charges???

With shipito I calculate it will cost me $50US  $8.50 shipito fee, $38.50 DHL shipping, $4 insurance, there is no fuel surcharge or any other cost, so what is comgateway charges on nexus 7?

Actual weught 1.7lbs, volumetric 3 lbs dimensions 10x7x5 inches

Ended up going the Noel Leeming pre-order route. still wish it had made it to New Zealand in the sub $400 but i just couldnt resist any longer.

Hoping the OTA jelly bean update will hit my Nexus S soon also. The suspense is a killer.

ComGateway's charges are built into the shown shipping fees.

So assuming the N7 is a 2Kg parcel, total cost will be $51.30US in theory. The fact that they don't give a specific breakdown of costs is a bit annoying, you have to work a lot of it out yourself.

It sounds like you're better off sticking with ShipIto.com. That said, ComGateway has no ongoing "subscription" fee which may make them cheaper if you use them rarely.
