Yeah, says $250AU for the 8GB, except that's $320NZ vs $200USD which is $255NZ. WTF!

Well as the AU dollar is higher than the US then it should be lower in AU than the US.

But we always get scr**ed down here.
Just look at steam and games on it, AU's always pay more

Except if the AU dollar is higher/equal to the USD, it should be $200AUD, not $250AUD!

I'm totally in. Can't wait.

Any price under about $350 will get my money.

Finally it seems somebody understands the feature we want in a non-iPad is a low price.

Even around $300 it should be a winner.

I was tempted to get a TradeMe or Warehouse tablet as a sofa-hack given the $200 price point, (Having previously experimented with an Eken 001) and some colleagues were tempted too. But really we wanted something that was reliable, well supported and with access to Google Play.

This would fit that bill... and in most ways be a step up from the Galaxy Tab7 I ended up with.

I checked the play store with an Australian proxy this morning and they had the same prices as the US

Probably won't be getting one, but only because I already have a transformer. Good to see ASUS is supplying them, I've been very impressed with the transformer and they're coming out with so very cool ideas lately.

I have enough tablets now but I like the reviews of Jelly Bean.

http://gizmodo.com/5921713/android-jelly-beans-new-features

As usual it will hit the Nexus devices first like the Galaxy Nexus, Nexus S and the pseudo Nexus Motorola Xoom. Since I have all three I am a happy camper!

From what i have seen it does not have a SD card.

Remember google = store everything with them and steam it back down.

Just remember none of the US prices include local sales taxes, AU price probably includes GST.

You are simply not going to get everything for $250 to $300. It isn't going to be the best tablet on the market by a long way, it isn't going to have a massive list of things, almost certainly no full sized USB.

But who cares? The thing is cheap and it's should be available here unlike the Kindle Fire which is probably the best comparison. As with the Fire I think the device is subsidised with the money being made up from services or ads.

I want one to watch stuff over the home network, email and so forth, maybe a few movies or books to take away on holiday. Sure, 8GB isn't much but then neither is $300 for an Asus built tablet.

Not according to the checkout.. It says tax hasn't been calculated.

mrtoken: And it says $249 in AU google
Maybe they're referring to the 16GB one?! :-P
(I bet not! Grrrr.... well I suppose that cancels the idea to get it sent to my Uncle, so how should we go about importing it from USA?)
