Awesomely powerful unit!
I installed a few graphic crunching games to see how it went.....very smooth
The 7 inch unit means I can use it for navigation in my truck and have found the google nav better than the tom tom (which cost more by the way)...I might add here that google nav knows where the destination is better than any other but is still a bit weak in getting there.

As a commercial driver who also designs software, I can slip between navigation/email/the web/server status and my online books without any delay.

Downside is that I have to keep it on the net by connecting to my phone (Wireless Access Point)...one day I forgot my phone.....the world stopped.

I found the 7 inch would be as big as I could go for the portability I need in my daily schedule.

I've just bought two N7s from Walmart while on a trip to the US. I feel so unlucky that no one here are seeing the infamous backlight flickering problem, but both of the two I bought do Frown

I'm going to return these two and buy from Play Store instead. Hopefully I get quality ones from there.

tried to order one last night through GooglePlay using a proxy. Plan was to have it delivered to my Mate in Chicago to on-send.

All worked fine, but (obviously) my billing address was NZ (no NZ Option) so the order was cancelled due to mismatch in addresses when I put the shipping address.

Anyways, how have some of you got your hands on them - I'm not really wanting to pay over $300 nzd for the 8gb.

I just put the shipping address as the billing address, but I'm not sure if that's going to work. I also placed my order last night, so far the order status says "Google Inc. received your order".

tried that too but that's why they cancelled....mismatch to billing address of the credit card used.

(probably a good thing if someone was ripping me off but not in this scenario)

It's an anti-fraud measure. Stops folk stealing your credit-card and having an on-line spend up.

Generally in the USA they will only ship to the billing address of the credit-card.

I paid $439 for my 16GB N& from Dick Smith. No hassle, no waiting, and if it packs up I can just drop it off to them anywhere.
In case you were wondering......No, I dont work for Dick Smith

So far I have my Nexus 7 from Dick Smiths, my NFC tags, a car mount, a.case, and a 3.1A car charger. I am waiting on my active sync dock and mini amp so I can build a custom car dock. I am also waiting to hear back about a Huawei 3g WiFi hotspot for the car.

UnitedWeFall: Has anyone found any cases in NZ yet?

I saw Noel Lemmings had some due in on the 13th, but they're still showing as on order.

These cases have arrived in at Noel Leemings today(at least in Wellington).
Seem pretty decent...

Is there an app or 'way' to show when a call is coming in on your Mobile....but message displays on Nexus 7 ?

like a caller ID / call indicator app or something? over bluetooth I suppose.

cheers.
