You could install the SDK, it has a direct screenshot option.

Thanks, I'll consider it. I did eventually manage to get a couple of screenshots, but most had the volume and/or power dialogs visible, thanks to my spastic hands. EmbarassedLaughing

I found it a little bit touchy as well. But pressing them at exactly the same time and holding for 1-2 seconds is the key.

Yes, and as I said, that's the problem. As my cerebral palsy continues to degrade my motor skills, it's that exactly the same time which is the reason I'm hoping to find an alternative.

Could ask someone else to try?!

Here's the SDK - http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html

Works fine for me. Tried several screenshots once I had the secret 'hold for 1 - 2 seconds - works a treat.

Have been having fun with GPS tagged photos taken with my smartphone camera flipping between the photo and GPS location on the map using the Nexus. Then dropping back to streetview, and streetview with 'compass mode'.

Thanks for the link. Maybe I'll try to master the 2-button thing as physical therapy first. :)

Has anyone found some cool stuff to do with Google now? It shows me the route home from work plus a fairly accurate eta including traffic. Shows the weather, my appointments but no sport results other than googled results.

Seems it can do more in the U.S. but what else can it do here?

I have now signed up to a cheap US VPN service which also lets me stream movies from the store :) (watching transformers now) :)

Can you tell us which VPN service you used?

Well i would but it seems to have stopped working this morning (on the work Wifi via the vpn).

Now i am getting a "can't play in your country"

Will try when i get home again tonight.

Even though you're not (at this stage) able to access the US via the Proxy/VPN, do you still have your Wallet $10 and Google Play $25 credit?

Yep, can also access the US store and purchase of books etc
If you login to the store without the proxy it will go back to the nz store and you will get errors, if this happens clean the data etc from the google play store and then connect to the proxy and open the store it will go back to the US one

stuartjmz:
halfbaked: Power + volume down at the same time, hold for 1-2 seconds.

If this doesn't work then your tablet is broken!

No, my tablet's not broken - my hands are. As I explicitly stated at length in my initial post, I understand how the process works in Jelly Bean, but am having trouble holding the two buttons down at the same time. I have impaired motor skills, and the process obviously requires an exact synchronicity that is very, very difficult for me. That's why I asked about an app, hoping there might be one that was easier to use for me given my physical limitations.

If you're Rooted this would probably suit you well, it has a "shake to capture" mode or one where you just cover the light sensor:

Haven't been using Tasker this last little while, but would have thought Tasker could also do what you need.

Flash is not supported.

Blame it on makers, not google.

Flash is also being removed from the play store in august so you will not be able to download it from that date

Indeed we are in the transition period from flash to HTML5 for streaming video sites.
