Good news, I have a mate coming over from Aussie on the 29th and he's happy to carry a bit extra weight, if you know what I mean. :-)

motorwayne: The Verge review is up!

That glass covering is cause for concern, however. While testing the phone, I accidentally knocked the device off of my dining table and onto a hardwood floor... cracking the glass on the back. It's a small fracture, but had I just paid $300 for the device, I would be irate, and I'm not sure what LG or Google's policy is on replacement.

With the way I treat phones I'm glad now I'm not getting a N4! I'm happy keeping my HOX for now :)

Why?

It's kind of a strange question - as kyhawa2 points out, you can download whatever widgets you want from the app store.

Not strange, just asked what the stock widget are for 4.2...simple. Not asking about the play store, I know there are others there, not asking about those.

If you can't answer the question, move on.

That's one thing that has always right trucked me off, getting charged GST on SHIPPING.

With a 10% discount on the N4, the freight costs could be the tipping factor raising customs fees over the threshold where they bother charging you.  In that case, it would be nice if you could pay directly pay YouShop (as an NZ-based outfit) their few dollars of GST and save $100 on the main package.

Well by my reckoning it is only 4 days to go for Aussie orders on the N4 :-)

Exciting!

Using various calculators and NZPOSTS Youshop  www.youshop.co.nz you can order this N4 from Google Play and land this bad boy in NZ for around $600 + the cost of internal national US postage (whatever that would be??).

You need to order on google play using a VPN (free)  http://getusvpn.com/ or you won't be able to view the the devices on google play.  Send it to your newly created Youshop usa address and voila.  Use your google wallet to pay for it.

The $600 estimate is including the GST and Duty of $106 NZ  http://www.whatsmyduty.org.nz/.

I hope to have it here early December ???

What if we only ordered the 8gb. That would put the cost at $390 NZD plus u.s internal shipping costs. Does anyone know how much it is because if it is less than $9.76 NZD or $7.9 USD the total cost would be under $400 and so you wouldn't have to pay any customs dutys or GST.

Does anyone know how much the shipping is over there?

Yes I believe you are right!  I did consider this but then thought it was a bit of a gamble with not knowing the exact postage.  Perhaps the usa internal post is not included in the calculation and only the usa - nz portion??

The other option there is to purchase through Amazon and select the free postage.  They currently stock the galaxy nexus but not sure if they intend to carry the the N4.

I just purchased the Samsung Chromebook from amazon ( $249 which is another google product on their google play store front) on free postage.  I don't incur any duty or gst and it should land here costing me $337 total.  Which I might say is incredible!

Well I did some calculations on the 8GB nexus 4.

$299 USD for Nexus 4.

$14 USD internal shipping google play store (got the price from the price to ship the nexus 7).

$ 17.25 NZD youshop postage.

$313 USD -> $384.568NZD

382,568 + 17.25 = $401.818 NZD.

A) Pray that us dollar falls

B) Hope that customs misses it

C) get stung $100

Can you guys think of any other way to get these into NZ?

I bought a Galaxy Nexus from the play store and shipping was $10.50. It could be just under $400.  Is internal US shipping calculated in the customs duty?
