kakao talk is great for multi person group messaging.
i.e. any number of people can be in the group and message of any lenghth, attachment at their free will via data.
The app also allows use of one to one messaging over data if you dont want a group.

It also allows normal voice calls etc.

Never had that issue. Must have sent ~25k SMS using Handcent, never saw an issue of duplicated outgoing.

Randomly get duplicate incoming, across all contacts, regardless of messaging app used. Comes and goes. Happens for 24-48hrs, then not for a week or 4.

thanks , it seems to behave now. i've not had double sms since then.

one more thing, notification LED remains on ! can that be adjusted to work like stock sms (blinking one) ?
i dont see anything obvious in the settings.

That is a settings issue surely?

I +1 GoSMS pro.
Personally I have the privacy options set up so that I get no pop up, no screen wake, no message text in the status bar, just a note saying new message.

I love the individual notification icons so you can see at at glance who in your favourites has messaged you even if I miss the unique beep tone , I like the individualised conversation screen themes.

Emoji of course but it does use 92 characters for that first image, then additional ones are only 2 characters each.

For a free app, it has a lot of functionality.

+1 for Go SMS

I like the way I can set individual notification sounds for people, as well as individual LED colours. I've also bumped up the size of incoming texts so I can read them easily without having to put my glasses on.

DoggNZ: Been using Go SMS since I first got an Android but it's annoying me lately. What's everyone using?

I now use the default SMS app on my LG Optimus 3D Max. It's light, fast and stable. The other add-on apps have so much 'extra' in them they end up being slow and unstable.

I've tried them all.....and handcent was the best other than the default app. But I didn't need or use all the extras...and preferred not having the lag they impose.

Using handcent.

I love the reminder tone where I can set it to regularly remind me that there was a new SMS I haven't read.
I set it to a different, more subtle tone than my normal sms tone.

I also regularly use the quick reply feature.

I also use the Quick Text function quite a lot to send commonly-sent texts (i.e. "I'm on my way home, see you soon!")
