I have flash on my phone and it works really nicely, hope your experience is the same. How are you going using swype?

Hi Neets.

I'm learning to pre-plan the word prior to swiping, so getting better all the time (as the Beatles might have said). I won't be as fast for a while but I will persevere. Smile

Onward and upward then...

Cheers,

Galaxy S has gone to its new owner.
HTC Sensation running Jelly Bean 4.1.1, alpha AOSP ROM, on Telecom XT. Rough around the edges but showing much potential considering it's pre-beta. My daily driver now.

Quadrant 963 with Froyo (JPO/JPP/JP3 via kies) it's too laggy for me, but slightly less laggy than 2.1 (JF3/JF3/JF3) with lagfix. Definitely will chuck voodoo back on soon. The phone is dissapointing without lagfix.

Can I  have suggestions on an application where I can type (like Word) and easily copy and paste the text.  I'm heading away for a week and I want to update my blog, but don't want to be connected to mobile Internet while I do it.

And while I'm at it, I've seen somewhere a list of Wifi hotspots.  Does anyone have the link to that?  Looking for free Wifi at cafes etc in Queenstown.  Cheers.

kiwijunglist: Free wifi map for NZ

What I found more interesting is the "let me google that for you".  I'd seen someone else on XDA do that and didn't know how they did it (yeah yeah, easy peasy).  So now I've saved the lmgtfy.  Pretty cool.  thanks.

ThinkFree Office? Free with every SGS (assuming you don't install the slim version of Doc_Kalpik's ROM) :-)

Let me Google that for you is awesome eh!

BTW, I just finally got around to properly checking out Tasker. Woops! Should have done that before, brilliant program. Now have added vibro alerts to NewsRoom notifications, persistent text alerts for certain contacts (both of these actions don't trigger when in silent mode), and another one where if the power and headphone jacks are plugged in (which is what happens when I'm driving) it does the following: Media Volume Full, Screen Brightness Full, turn on GPS, open WinAmp, on either one of the conditions not being met it turns brightness/volume back to their previous settings, stops music playback and exits to the homescreen. Wonderful stuff, only limited by your imagination really... Next to set up some location based ones so that it'll turn on/off WiFi automatically as I approach or leave home...

Can anyone tell me the connector type on the USB cable with the Galaxy S? Is it a standard connector or some Samsung only connector. I’d like to get a spare to keep at work.

Yep, it's the slim version.  But I'm sure I took the zip file so I could pick and choose (remove apps) which extra apps I wanted to install.  So I take it ThinkFree works ok?  I've never used it - which is why I didn't care it wasn't included .... until now ;-)

Hey guys,

Given that these can be had for around 8-9hundy, is it worth getting one over a Desire HD?  Ordering from Clove/Handtec is a waste of time atm (unless I want to wait a month) and buying 'locally' from one of the Eking type stores you're looking at around 2-300 more expensive.

Is the Samsung ready for prime time, or should I just wait for the Desire HD?

That was easy, thanks. Probably could have worked that out for myself had I bothered to look

Desire HD  (from what I've read)
+ Made by HTC
+ Better camera
+ Larger screen 4.3"
- Too large for some pockets?
- Currently sold out

Galaxy S  (from my experience)
+ Amyloid screen
+ Fits better in pocket
+ Faster GPU
+ Better external speaker / ?better audio?
- Crappy software support from samsung
- Comes with kies
- GPS is a little dodgey
- Camera is a bit crappy
- Lags a lot unless you install lagfix

If you don't mind the large size I would pick the Desire HD over the Galaxy S.

I keep on reading about people who have lag, my phone (unrooted) doesn't suffer any lag.
Camera to me is fine, picture quality seems fine to me.  Kies on the other hand is a piece of %$#@.
