I think the main reason the battery life in use is so bad is the modem. I might try the jpm modem.

Many thanks Neets - I have the Voodoo lagfix enabled, and it seems CWM isn't compatible with that?  Can anyone confirm this for sure?

Will disable it, and have another go at installing CWM from recovery (although I suspect it will work from ROM Manager once I disable EXT4)

I didn't know if you had a lag fix, but yeah, I got the same impression.  Voodoo + CWM = no joy.  I often don't start out with a lag fix, but then when I do, it's the one recommended on the Doc/Kalpik thread, No-RFS advanced Ext4.  I like that one.

Actually, where did you pick up the Voodoo lagfix.  I follow Supercurio's tweets and I recall yesterday he was saying it's CWM compatible.

Yesterday:  Every bug reported is now corrected in Voodoo lagfix and CWM support is complete. Still missing: updated voices, that's all!

Off the project-voodoo site about 3 weeks ago?  I guess I should've been keeping an eye out for updates Embarassed

Where do I get modems from and what is the process for upgrading them?

Also I have the following Questions:

How can I take a contact and add it to a "group"?

How can I have a list of upcoming appointments show on one of the screens on the phone, and a list of the notifications on another, so I don't have to pull them down?
How can I assign a mp3 on my external SD as the ringtone?

ADW launcher was installed on my doc kalpik rom and I want to know how I can make the bottom silver menu, more than 3 items ? I need 5.

Also how do I set a shortcut to the last post in this thread in firefox?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

They're in post "2" of the thread, you'll need to scroll down post 2 to see them.  You go to the recovery menu and flash these in CWM.

It's NOT as:  apply update.zip

It's the one where you get to choose a zip file from your SD card.  Just navigate to the zip you've saved on your SD card (internal SD card i.e. phone).  Use the back button on the phone to select (enter).  Use the volume up and down buttons to navigate through the list of files on your phone's internal sd.

Thanks Neets. Is there no medium and full app package for v8 yet? Is v8 worth going to from 7.6.2 of JPO?

Ok, I don't know the answers to all of them, here's what I do know

I use Launcher Pro and I can set the number of screens I want, and choose which one is the "home" screen.  On a blank screen (or one that's got space) I add a widget - I use Jorte as my calendar and that's linked to my gmail account, so whatever appointments are in gmail show in Jorte, and therefore show on the screen with the Jorte widget.

I don't know how you get to put notifications on a screen rather than the pull down notification screen.

You can assign any sound as a ring tone:  Click the Menu button, Click Settings.  Click Sound.  Under "Incoming Calls" click the "Voice call ringtone".  Select "select music" (rather than the Android System), then go find your piece of music.

I don't use ADW so I can't help you with that question.

I wish I knew the answer to the last question. I've got this forum as a shortcut (bookmark) but I don't know how you can get it to go to the last page of the forum, it's hard coded as the page number it was when I set the shortcut/bookmark up.

I've jumped from v6 to v8 so I can't help you there.  I can't say I've noticed any difference yet from v6 to v8 but I haven't spent much time on my phone since I upgraded last night.  I also didn't install any of the additional zip files.  Only the ROM.

Doc said he's put some of the apps back into the ROM, some that were previously part of an addon package for v7.6.2.  The post on the first page of the thread lists the different apps that come with each of the different ROMs.

@networkn:

"Cal Widget" is a good widget to display your calender on the home screen. You can custom all the colours, formating, background, transparency, etc. If you just want a small calender (4x1) then also checkout "Smooth Calender" both are free and available on the market. These will display calender appointments. AFAIK there is no widget to display standard notifications on the home screen.

Change ADW dock buttons goto the home screen, press the menu button then click settings/preferences and it should be under dock or appearance or something like that.

So not only does having an EXT4 lagfix cause issues, even having an update.zip in your sdcard also stops it from working. . . .
