I've flashed the JPP modem (included in doc 7.6), will see how that goes tomorrow. The voice quality on JP3 was very average for me too.

Hmmm. . . .restored my JH1 backup, which appeared to work ok, but now I can't get past the Galaxy S boot screen. . . . ???  Made sure I disabled the lagfix first too. . . .

It could take a while why it downgrades all the file system stuff.  I remember when I flashed a new theme it took 63 swirls of the S before it booted up.

Has it moved to the swirly S?

Nope - I left it for around 20 minutes too. . . .

Plan B - did a factory wipe, and am now installing JPO. . .will see what happens there. . . . . very weird though.

If I can get back in with JPO I might just the above restore, and leave to think overnight (charging of course!)

Bugger. . .thought I was doing so well too. . .

Hmmm. . . not getting very far here - Rebooting in CWM, doing factory reset, and restoring my backups always ends the same - reboot just sits on the Galaxy S screen - have to pull the battery to restart.

I was able to install JPO however, but that's not much help, as it's completely blank canvas so-to-speak.

Should I try just leaving it on this screen overnight?

Any suggestions guys?  I'm getting a little desperate here. . . . .

Have you tried wiping dalvik cache too? It's in one of the sub menus in CWM.

I've read that others have used Odin to flash a standard rom and started from there.

Or if you can get back to JPO is it quicker to install your apps etc with Titanium?

Yes, I tried the Dalvik cache too Neets.

Once realization that's just dawned on me - my only Titanium backup was done on Eclair, so IIRC, I can't use it to restore my apps on Froyo?

Just noticed an error message on the latest attempt to restore that mentioned not being able to find /ext or something similar. . . . .I wonder if it's possible that I didn't disable Voodoo before I did the CWM backup?

I've just done a factory-reset, and set the lagfix options to voodoo, and am now trying to restore again. . . .

Worst-case scenario, starting from a fresh JPO ROM, how do I:

 - Get my IMEI & phone number back in there?

I did install APN backup, and took a copy of /efs like you told me?  Hopefully that will stand me in good stead?

You can still use the Titanium backup but not restore system data.

You won't lose IMEI using Odin to flash a standard rom.

With Voodoo had you disabled it before restoring your backup? If there was an update.zip on the internal sd it might be causing problems.

Other than that, I'm fresh out of ideas :(

Wow. . . .crazy. . . .installed JPO, and then did an advanced restore, and just restored data, and I'm back!!!

Everything is there as it was. . . .BUT. . . . the force-close error still pops up for a split second and then incoming calls get disconnected.

And my IMEI has changed - there is one there, but it's not what it was.

So YAY, progress of sorts, but how do I change my IMEI back to what it was??  And if this changed with the original upgrade to ADJP5, would that explain why I can't receive calls?

Your carrier may not allow duplicate IMEI numbers so it might explain why calls are dropping out.

Do you have root explorer? I'd be inclined to take a copy of your current /efs before copying back the earlier copy of your /efs. Or use whatever method you did the first time you copied your /efs.

From what I've read, you copy over the /efs folder using the good backup you had before flashing the rom.

If you take a copy of the stuffed /efs name it something different so you can tell the difference between the original and the stuffed one, like efs_stuffed or efs_221110

@Neets...

Are you using noLED? If so, it might explain your notifications issue, as there's an incompatability with Handcent. You could try ticking the "Delay SMS notifications" item, if you're also a noLED user.

Otherwise, my usual disclaimer about knowing SFA about the workings of the SGS applies. Again. Forever, most likely.

Cheers,

Cheers Neets - I did actually try that early on last night, but it didn't work due to not have r/w permissions. . . . .IIRC you can change this with ROM Manager?

Will take a new titanium/CWM backup first though!

I would've thought that Vodafone not liking my IMEI would prevent me from making calls as well?

Just update to Kies v1.5.3.10103.102 - it took less than 2 minutes!
Maybe they've added some bandwidth.

Still no official Froyo update though ;-(

Samsung pushed the latest Kies update to eliminate the latest reg hack. I can't believe how useless this company is. They rather spend time on preventing people downloading other countries firmwares than pushing the official firmware quicker to those countries who still have not got it.
