kiwijunglist: sometimes there is an error when you flash, If it was me I would considfer.

1. Factory reset + clear data
2. Redownload + Reflash files. I assume your using Doc's rom? Was your phone JPA or JPO prior to flashing?
3. Restore IMEI

Thanks KJL - as per above:

My firmware before starting this exercise was the stock JH1 Eclair.

1. Prior to flashing ADJP5, I didn't do a factory install, but did clear the cache/dalvik cache from CWM

2. Yes, first attempt was to Doc's ADJP6 rom + EXT ULF as per his instructions from JH1.  When I realised last night that I couldn't receive calls, I tried to downgrade to Doc's JPO with cache wipes, and that's where the trouble started.  In the end I had to do a factory wipe, install JPO, and then do an advanced restore, and put data back.

3. How can I restore IMEI?  Would love to do this, but copying /efs from backup doesn't seems change anything?

Life is mostly froth and bubble, two things stand like stone - kindness in another's trouble, courage in your own.

SGSIII
ROM: WanamLite v1.3    Kernel: Ninphetamine v1.1.0   Modem: DXLEA

SGSII (Now belongs to SWMBO)
ROM: WanamLite v12     Kernel: Siyah v3.3.2   Modem: BVLPB

SGS

If you need a download-mode jig ASAP, you're welcome to borrow mine!  Works with SGS I/II/III.  I also have a SIM cutter available (Dunedin) - happy to post either to you at your cost.

Sorry, never had to do #3, your best bet is to troll through xda. Then post what you've done so far, your current problem and the method you have read to do the restore of IMEI and try and get comments/opinions.

Also you mentioned wipes, but not factory reset. I would consider trying this too.  I read that it's safest to do a factory reset + wipe data prior to flashing anything new in odin.

WallySimmonds: Okay, one thing I didn't realise with Android - no wifi proxy support?  WTF?  That's a pretty big ommission.

Try:

Settings->Wireless & Network-> Wifi settings -> Menu Button -> Advanced

It allows proxy & port settings

Are you using noLED? If so, it might explain your notifications issue, as there's an incompatability with Handcent. You could try ticking the "Delay SMS notifications" item, if you're also a noLED user.

Otherwise, my usual disclaimer about knowing SFA about the workings of the SGS applies. Again. Forever, most likely.

Cheers,
R2D2

Hi there.? I presume noLED is an app.? Nope, not using it.? But it did make me go look at my Handcent options and I have Blink LED selected, so the LED flashes (notification) when a new message is received.? Thanks :)

Yeah, yeah... that's what I, uh.. was meaning - when I said 'noLED' - that, um... I uh... I meant 'BlinkLED', that's right, what I was meaning was 'BlinkLED'... not, um, uh... 'noLED'. I mean that'd have just been, uh... silly. Yeah, obviously I was going for BlinkLED and i got, um... uh, disracted and stuff. So, yeah. having Blink selected and that, obviously was where I was headed with that.

Glad I could help. First thing that came to my mind, BlinkLED, you know - couldn't be anything else really, but well - sometimes the answer is the most obvious...

So, your Galaxy S has an LED? I'm sure mine has too. I mean, I know it has, of course. So...

That's all right then.

Uh, just to refresh my memory, where's that LED thing again?

Cheers,
R2D2

PS: The LED's that little hole thingo, top right of the screen, right?...

Galaxy S has gone to its new owner. HTC Sensation has gone to its new

Sorry! I must've mis-read something. I'm at work and hadn't bothered to look further into it.

I'll go smoke a pack of cigarettes to even things up.

I was going to suggest you watch the notebook, but that would have been too harsh. I may have been thrown out of the forum :-)

Well my hubby hasn't seen it.  I haven't seen it.  Do I take it, it's a worthwhile movie.  I should maybe go buy the Blu-ray and all?  Tongue out

You sound all tongue twisted ;-)  Ok, I've disabled that option.  Waiting for my hubby's txt message to arrive.  Must be doing a round the world tour first though.

I'm not sure if you're having a lend of me or it's a serious question, for which I'm now doubting the answer.  But the front facing "little hole thingo, top right of the screen" is the video camera for video calling.  Maybe I should be asking what Blink LED is then.  I thought it was like the backlight led that would have the menu and return buttons flash.

cokeman2:
lokhor: I seriously need to stop flashing kernels at work. I tried flashing back to K2R2 but still can't boot even after a restore.

May have to wait till I get home and then flash using Odin and see if that works.

probably a stuip question whats with all u guys flashing it nonstop what for ?

better performance , new features , or just like playing with it ?

The Galaxy with the current 2.1 firmware is known to not fully maximise the hardware capability. The clued up guys at XDA are continuously looking at ways to help end users maximise the end user experience, improving performance, call quality, wifi, bluetooth etc etc, unlocked unused functions.

If you're already asking a question like this .. be best you stay to stock firmware. Hacking and modifying your Galaxy will render your warranty void, as well as possibly brick your device. No members on GZ take any responsibility if you decide to modify your device and you brick it. We will of course, do whatever possible to help assist.

Actually, in my mind that was what passes for a little self-deprecating humour, but apparently my mind is misinformed since it just served to confuse the heck out of you. :)

I'll leave the 'humour' to Billy Connelly in future. [Shuffles feet uncomfortably and reddens with embarrassment before slinking off into cyberspace again...]
