lokhor: Had anyone got the k9 kernel working? I was completely oblivious to there being a problem. Still not sure I understand. Not sure if I've got the problem. I have one folder in caps T9DB but I'm not sure if it should have been in lower case anyway. I don't currently have any lagfix applied, not since going to v8. I had on the previous rom. geez im glad im not using this modded kernal, sounds like a headache. is it that much faster over the stock doc rom w. ext4 HTPC - Intel i3-2100 / 12GB / 13TB Storage / HD4670 / HVR2200 / Win 7 x64 + MediaPortal 1.3 Final PC - Intel e8600 / 8GB / HD5830 / Win7 x64

Doc's rom uses a Hardcore kernel that can result in a corrupt /system. It's only the Hardcore kernel K9 and above that are fixed. Doc's one used I1.x And it appears that it's not a combination of the kernel's pre k9 with a lagfix, it's simply having the kernel that may result in the corrupt /system. Anyway, Doc is back from his trip and is going to release another v8 with a kernel k9 or higher. But when you flash his rom it resets the /system anyway (if I understand what I'm reading correctly). You need to flash the kernel WITHOUT rebooting the phone. Wipeout: I don't know if any of you remember, but I posted about an issue with my images being fragmented. Once I started saving images onto phone memory instead of external micro sd, the issue was gone. So I took the micro SD card back to Harvey Norman and they've replaced it. Today I took my first image and have the same issue. I don't know what to do, take it back again? Maybe it is an issue with my phone? Neets: BXJUCR: Hi guys got a i9000 on Monday yay but now I'm missing a widget/icon on the bottom of the screen normaly has PHONE CONTACTS MESSAGE HOME/APPLICATIONS well mine is missing the MESSAGING one just has a blank spot how do i get it back I have no manual as it came from eking. The messaging app is still in my list I just want it back on the shortcut bar at the bottom of the screen. Hi, long press on the gap where the icon used to be, then a little pop up appears > Edit dock shortcut. Select Change shortcut - and then find the one you want included in the dock. Thanks for that. found you need to be in edit mode then drag it down to the dock (dont know how it left ) woke up this morning and it was gone but all fixed now. Also thanks Neets for the link to get a manual :) you guys rock.

The stock (rooted) Froyo JP6 on mine is about as good as it gets from what I can tell. Maybe when CyanogenMod 6.x is available I'll load it up, but the Galaxy S as it is has an awesome camera/vidcam app I would not want to lose. If you're not curious, your brain is already dying...if not dead. Well my phone is now completely bricked after trying to flash hardcore's k9 kernel through odin. Getting the phone--!--pc screen. Guess I will have to try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=819551 tomorrow. Otherwise It's off to Samsung with it ><

thanks for the link, i didn't know it was broken. so i'm running JPO Doc 7.6.2 + med package + full package + custom theme (kitchen mod to status bar + battery icon) + tweaks + ext4 advanced lagfix. havn't encountered any problems. do u have link to what is wrong with the setup i'm running? Thanks, I read most of it, it seems to me that if you don't plan on flashing a new kernal in the future then you can safely stay with this faulty kernal without running a fix. Therefore i will wait, until a lot more users have applied the fix, before I consider updating/fixing the kernal. I felt the urge to try the stock Froyo so hacked Kies and updated it. It's JPO/JPP/JPO (and I subsequently put the OCLF 2.0 on it). No lag so far that I can detect. I feel like using CWM to load another file system (ext4 like my 7.5 mod) but thought I'd stick with the vanilla install a while to see if there's any creeping lag with it. I'll give it a week or so since I think I now have a significant number of apps and such which will be a fairer test than the particularly lean install I've been using in the past. The Kies-based update, BTW, ran smoothly. Identified the phone, announced there was a new update and did it all with backup and restore. Painless. Must be how Kies is meant to be but so infrequently is, apparently. Cheers, R2D2. PS: The post editor window has the html markup hidden once more and the formatting buttons are back. Woohoo. Didn't alter anything so I assume the fix was Geekzone's. :-) Galaxy S has gone to its new owner. HTC Sensation running Jelly Bean 4.1.1, alpha AOSP ROM, on Telecom XT. Rough around the edges but showing much potential considering it's pre-beta. My daily driver now.

So, what triggers the corruption? Mounting any RFS filesystem without check=no How is the file system corrupted? There are several symptoms: Directory names gets CAPSED: Example: /system/bin becomes /system/BIN files becomes unreadable, or directories becomes unlistable user.log is created (seems it could be created in other situations) Unfortunately, these errors are random. I made previously an attempt of auto-detection + correction for Voodoo lagfix but didn't succeed because the filesystem errors seems to vary at each mount. The more you write on a non-check=no mounted RFS, the more the corruption grows. This is valid not only for /system but for any RFS. ... However, a RFS filesystem mounted without check=no stay usable as long as you continue to mount it without check=no. ... Do I need this fix? If you plan to continue using the same kernel without changing in the future, no. Forget about it. Slightly confusing as if you plan on using the same kernal without changing in the future you don't need to fix, however it also mentions that files could become unreadable/unlistable. No lagfixes enabled or anything on a factory wiped rom. Anyway off to dse first thing tomorrow to pick up the soldering equipment. Still need to find a micro usb cable though.

I tried the stock JP6 rom without a lagfix and it was so ridiculously slow with 140 apps that it was unbearable to use. The browser also had massive memory leakage issues. I think JPO might be ok without a lagfix if you have very few apps. I'm hanging out for the new Doc rom with the K9 kernel. I'd really like to find a rom that had good battery life though. Today I ran out in just 7 hours using 3g web browsing for about 2.5 hours of that.
