I bought a $13 vent mount from a trademe seller. After I cut down the sides so that they were flush with the phone's screen, it was perfect. I can run my finger across the screen without obstruction (a problem with most generic holders as they are designed to hold devices of all shapes and sizes).

It also has the added bonus of being in the direct path of the aircondtioning on those especially hot days.

@ Edge - I used kies registry patcher 1.6.0.0.
Just select TNZ (telecom nz) from the drop down box and proceed with the patch.
It appears to me that for some reson kies doesn't recognise the phone as being from nz and the patch fixes that problem. As mentioned earlier the version of froyo offered for upgrade after this in kies is the genuine telecom nz version with telecom splash screen and all the APN data loaded etc.
Good luck.

Damn, didn't think of that. I'm going to have to relocate it.

Good thing I have a bluetooth gps receiver on its way to me, which will mean don't have to rely on the SGS having clear line of sight to the sky.

Thanks Muzz - will try it as soon as I can. Have downloaded 1.6.0.0 but still having troubles getting any regular connection via Kies, so have to get that sorted first!

Make sure you back up your apps first, as they will be gone after the upgrade. And do a hard reset after the installation before you load everything back up again - I didn't do that the first time round and had a few problems. The hard reset fixed all of that and I now have a silky smooth OS.

Cool, got one.  How do I make it vibrate when you receive texts?  It makes one useless half pulse at the moment but thats it.  Thats after going into messaging and enabling vibrate.

Never mind, just increased notification volume and put it on silent.  winar.

Galaxy S has gone to its new owner.
HTC Sensation running Jelly Bean 4.1.1, alpha AOSP ROM, on Telecom XT. Rough around the edges but showing much potential considering it's pre-beta. My daily driver now.

Recently I have issues whenever I tried to connect the phone via KIES, any one been able to find a solution? Only work around I have found is to delete the files that are in the /sdcard/DCIM/.thumbnails folder. These are the files for the album art for the music thats in my external SD card. Its a pain to have to delete the files all the time to connect to KIES.
