Wipeout: Yeah, just rang them, but manager was "busy". Will be on them again. I'm just tired of all this. Christ, even iPhone users who have issues with their phones have them replaced straight away, if under warranty. This is just ridiculous. :|

oh that sucks, lazy ahole's not checking ur phone properly. i guess it's slightly harder because it's an intermittent fault. totally sours your i9000 experience though!! I would push for immediate brand new replacement or $$$ back. good luck. I guess you can have some comfort in that you didn't purchase the dud phone from overseas, in which case you would be paying for return postage as well as a longer wait.
Going back after the weekend for them to try a different brand micro SD card. Mine is Sandisc, so I'm assuming they will try Kingston. Who knows. Basically they're trying to exhaust all the options before they give me a replacement, I think. It's pretty annoying however, because I've been on this issue for a while, with them trying two Sandisc SDs already and sending the device for reflashing. When I see him in person on Monday, I will be a little stronger with my words.

Fizz: Hey Guys got a prob. upgraded 2 JPA got 3e recovery and can't install unsigned zip files. Can't even get into clockwork. I managed to root the phone using Ryanza's Z4root app. so that's cool but can't run voodoo lag fix or apply CWM update.zip :( checked xda 4 help but didn't find anything useful.

If you use Chainfires's rooting method you'll get 2e which is what you need to be able to put an update.zip file on your phone.  And the CWM is an update.zip file.

Just make sure you select the correct version for your firmware.  There's more versions listed in the 2nd post.

Forgotten: Hi guys,

Bought a Galaxy S on XT a few weeks ago and have been wanting to flash it for a while. Have read numerous tutorials on it and am comfortable enough with the actual flashing process, what I'm not comfortable with though is what to flash.

So from the stock Eclair firmware on XT what should I be flashing to? Not overly concerned with going to 2.2.1, but I'd like to move to Froyo.

Also of note, I've tried all the registry hacks and everything for Kies without success, so I'd prefer to use Odin to do the flashing - this is my main problem as I need a copy of the firmware.

So has anyone managed to get the Froyo firmware for XT? Or alternatively recommend one I should go to.

I think it would be good to find your stock firmware first.  NZ is a small fish in the big sea.  And I think finding the official firmware would be a good place to start so that if things don't go as they should, you can get back to the official firmware.  I don't think samfirmware has it though - not when I last looked.  Though if you take a backup with Rom manager (nandroid backup) then you can always flash (restore) that way.

Hopefully someone with an XT phone will be able to give you some assistance with what they've flashed and an opinion on it.

Though I can't see why you couldn't just flash any of Doc's roms, or anything else that took your fancy :)

Oh and I'm not sure how some of you, who purchased their phones here in NZ from Voda, were able to update their phones to 2.2, because I spoke to Samsung NZ today and they said there is no release date for the 2.2 update. This company is a joke.

Well, as nztechfreak has mentioned, the 2.2.1 update give you an option for OTA update, assuming this is a function for future use.

I'm missing predictive text and swype after the "technicians" reflashed my phone. Anyone know how to activate this?

ArtooDetoo:
NZtechfreak: Usually to remove Voodoo you create a folder call 'disable lagfix' in the Voodoo directory and reboot the phone (and then you'll hear the robot announcer again detailing the reversal of the Ext 4 formatting).

If you used a Voodoo application (sorry, haven't come across that one yet) then I'm not sure.

I'll give that a shot thanks, NZTF. Can't hurt. I figure the app does what the CWM approach does, just uses a ramdisk or whatever via the app instead of the ROM.

Let you know how it travels.

Cheers,
R2D2

Any luck Artoo?

 Yeah version JP3 I believe.
If u got a VFNZ fone then it should pick up automatically.
Otherwise u'll need the kies registry fix.

Follow one of the links there to download a version you can use with Odin, which is what I did with mine. Do me a favor though and take note of your market region before you do anything (you can use the Market Enabler app to see your region code), because it seems to get changed during the upgrade and I'd like to know what the original code was.
