Neets:
Damager:
Wipeout: Brendan, thank you. :>

Right, so ADB test went well, and under command prompt I got this back:

List of devices attached

9000b2badd3b device

So that means ADB is working properly now! Yay! :D

Now I need to figure out how to go into download mode in ADB. As per Neets' suggested link(bottom of the page instructions) http://nfye.com/toolkit/Doc-Froyo.pdf

What does he mean "download mode (ADB method)"? I need to run a command in command line, correct? But what command?

Edit: found it - adb reboot download. Is this right? That should put my phone into download mode, then I can run the bootloader fix as per above instructions in Odin. Just checking with you guys if this is correct. hahaha... while absolutely sh*ting myself. :P

Great to hear you now have adb working! Been busy at work so only now just catching up on the replies. Heard the various email notifications throughout the day so knew the thread was busy :D

HEY R2D2!  Hey!!!!  Damager has just surpassed Uber Geek status!!!!
Congrats Damager :-D

Ah thanks for the congrats Neets! I had thought about how and where to bring up my 1000th post and totally forgot about it! Ascending the upper pantheon of Uber Geek status, quite an honor. On reflection, I'd like to think I have been helpful at least a few times during those 1000 post hehe!

At your rate Neets, and also the likes of R2D2, will reach 1000 posts in a relatively much shorter period of time! That's youth these days huh :P

Mauricio, does this mean I now get a "Donate To Me" button? Tongue out Laughing

lol, Damager, you missed out on me nearly bricking my phone. :P

Right, so I'm gonna double check this with you guys before I try getting my 3 button combo.

This is the guide I'm using (by Richthofen):

Preparations: Make sure you have the drivers installed (i.e Kies is recognizing the phone), adb available and "USB Debugging" turned on in "Settings -> Applications -> Development" menu. Type *#0228# in the dialer and check Voltage value (without USB plugged in) is atleast 3800(mV).

1. Unplug the phone from the computer (if connected)
2. Kill all Kies related software (tray agent, etc)
3. Start Odin3 v1.3 Downloader
4. Plug in the phone to the computer
5. Start a new command prompt and navigate to the folder / drive where adb is located.
If you haven´t downloaded adb yet, get it here.
6. Type "adb reboot download" to the command prompt and press enter.
7. Move to Odin3 v1.3 downloader and select the "Aries_P-SBL.tar.md5" as PDA file. Make sure "Phone Bootloader Update" is ticked and re-partition is unticked. Do not select any other files but "Aries_P-SBL.tar.md5".
8. Press "Start" button to launch the update process. It will take around three seconds to complete. After the update phone will reboot automatically.

Steps 5 and 6 is what I'm confused about. Why do I need to navigate to folder/drive where ADB is? Because if I type in "adb reboot download" in command line while my phone is plugged in, my phone goes into download mode. So I'm assuming that the step 5 is for those who don't have ADB "attached" to their Windows like I do. I understood that the point of ADB is to provide the bridge between pc and my phone and if I can get into download mode, that means I don't need to navigate to any folders. Am I right?

Not of you nearly bricking your phone, but of you nearly sh!tting your panties ;-)

Step 5 and 6 is to do as you've already achieved, get the phone into download mode.  So you must have typed the command in step 6 at some point.  It's really just step 5 that you've not carried out as described then.  Where were you (in your computer folder structure) when you typed the command listed in step 6?

*offers a 1990 motorola brick phone  to the mobile phone gods as a sacrifice*

You're good to go now Wipeout :-)

Jokes aside, yeps, navigating to the folders in terms of changing to the appropriate directory while in command prompt, that your adb is located in :-) So if you have the little Android guy with the shovel, that's fine.

I've never used Odin before, however the process looks reasonably easy. In saying that, the likes of those eg Neets, kiwijunglist, R2 etc, that have used adb would be better served to guide you. Good luck!

I guess the other question is why not follow step 5?  What harm will it do if you navigate to the folder when it's not essential (which I can't see it is, it's not like you've copied any other file there as I understand).

Right, tell me when to hold my breath ;-)

100 pages in and a lot of bricks on that method... I don't think I want to do it now. One of the guys on here already bricked his with this method. Urgh...

Question, if I brick it, can I still get it into a download mode with home made jig? So if I made one, tested it and it works, essentially I can not brick my phone any longer, right?

Didn't do that method, as basically every page had at least one bricked phone reported. Instead looking at RazvanG's method, which is reported to be 100% safe so far!

Will report back when heard back from the man himself, as I had few questions about his method. :>

Well, did anyone else feel cut off from the world with Geekzone being off-line?

I had found this thread on the jig which I think answers your questions Wipeout.

Ok, who flashed a bad kernel to Geekzone?  Tongue out

I'm assuming from the 0 posts in the last few hours that it was down for everyone?

While we've been kept in the dark from Geekzone I've managed to flash Doc's v4 ROM successfully, set up my phone then completely screw it up by changing the battery mod resulting in multiple force closes.  That'll teach me for copying the file over with Root Explorer rather than flashing it with CWM.  I've done it before with Root Explorer.  Going to set up the phone again and then flash the framework-res.apk file from the zip created in UOT Kitchen the *proper* way.  Hubby's already asked if it's going to be another midnight bed-time for me.  NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Thank you once again Neets. And yes, I'm happy that I didn't go ahead with the flash while the site was down. hahahaha...

RazvanG said that I should use Heimdall method, which I will try tomorrow. Zero bricks so far!:>

Well you could send a personal message.  I guess it depends what theme you're using for XDA becuase I get a thank button under the name of the user.  Click the button and you've thanked them (for that post).
