Does this mobicity.co.nz incur NZ GST on top of the order price?  http://www.mobicity.co.nz/samsung-i9000-galaxy-s.html  8GB version is only $880 incl shipping

They don't charge extra for gst, but shipping is +$20 and +$15 creditcard/paypal fee. They quote GST = $0 in the checkout, which is strange.  It depends where they ship it from, if they ship from NZ then it must include gst. if they ship from overseas then you may get charged gst by customs.

So it's not 100% clear, they have a phone number, just call them... also gives an idea as to how legit they are.

That does the trick, cheers again :)

BTW, excuse my noobishness, but is there any settings needed to make the phone work on 3G when I am in a 3G area? Or will it just work....

I had the phone set to 2G only when I arrived in NZ and all through Auck and Welly and (being a jet lagged zombie brain) I didn't think to set it to 3G to check...

G = GPRS
E = EDGE
3 = UMTS R99
H = HSPA

With G being slowest and H being fastest, all other things being equal.

You mean out in the darkest Wairarapa we have HSPA? Sweeeeeeet...

Off to Wikipedia to learn more :)

Thanks for the help guys.

EDIT: 52 kbps down, 239 up ... this being my first foray into mobile web, how does that sound? Not too good to me.

I often get speeds lower than that across London. Generally I found mobile coverage, GSM and 3G, to be far better in NZ than the UK.

NZ's network coverage is great but the data prices are insane...
hopefully they will come down soon when 2degrees launch their 3g service..

Cool now shopping for a case, still cannot get over the NZ $ vs GBP, 2 ~=1!!! when I moved back to NZ a few years ago we transferred our money at 1 GBP = 2.97 :)

Amazon.co.uk looks very nice at this rate.

I see that few people have ordered various sorts but no recs yet....

Hi:

Home pages: Apps
Apps Page 2: Settings (a cog shaped thing)
Wireless and Network Settings (1st option)
Mobile Network Settings
Access Point Names

:)

For me I have been unable to send emails, I have a GMail, Hotmail (auto set up) and works own server using GMail SMTP. These all went through the set up test fine but don't actually send the emails. They stayed in the outbox for hours and disappeared but were never sent.

Any ideas? Do I need to use smtp.vodafone on all of them? I had Wifi on for half the time and off for the 2nd bit.
