I love the animation.  Have you noticed a drop in battery with it?  I would not want to be awake at that time of the day.  DamianGTO has now started creating a kernel using Steam.  Plenty of people like his kernels so maybe something good is in store soon.  He has a kernel ready for testing.

That does indeed look pretty cool, I am used to the standard CWM due to having a HTC Magic before the Galaxy S, I am also having to charge my phone each night since I use it way too much during the day, if I go without charging for the night I will be at about 20% battery in the morning.

I am going to start doing dev for Android Gingerbread maybe tomorrow, to see if I can get the last bits of the kernal working as they should (I was one of the porters of Android 2.1 to the HTC Magic back in the day) - Would be good to get this sucker working as it should on the Galaxy S.

Other than that, sleep comes now.

Damager: I read the instability part about Steam recovery... After it was flashed...dammit! But it works great, touch navigation was very easy.. Will try flashing something on it soon and give feed back..

That touch navigation will be a winner.  Plenty of people complaining how their buttons are wearing out.  Of course those that have been beta testers and constantly flashing new ROMS etc are at the top of that group of people.

Great how those developers and beta testers are finding ways to be innovative with our amazing phone!

BTW quick video done last night of Steam Recovery in action.. lucky I happened to start a little later for work Laughing

I had only flashed the ROM a few minutes prior hence I only had the main home screen set up

Yeps, nice simple animation but pretty funky. I like it heaps.

It seems like the battery drain has been much quicker today, however being a fresh ROM, I've been putting it through it's paces hard. Getting 15 hours out of it today was pretty good for me. The last entire charge was 34 hours with moderate usage, that sits well with me.

There's a minor update zip for my current rom, so I'll see how that goes running it from Steam.

Must admit I was drawn immediately to the touch interface hence I dived in without really thinking about any consequences, however I know if it turns to much,  I can one click odin back to stock.

I know there is a reasonable dedicated resource working on Gingerbread for the Galaxy and Captivate, so show em your stuff mike murphy!

I'm definitely having a flash-fever relapse this weekend, so I've headed to the kitchen to cook up some ROM medicine. . . .

Can someone advise which kernel I should opt for?  I'm thinking either Supercurio's or Hardcore's, but I see there's now a K12I as well as K12H.  I'm not interested in O/C'ing my phone.

Life is mostly froth and bubble, two things stand like stone - kindness in another's trouble, courage in your own.

SGSIII
ROM: WanamLite v1.3    Kernel: Ninphetamine v1.1.0   Modem: DXLEA

SGSII (Now belongs to SWMBO)
ROM: WanamLite v12     Kernel: Siyah v3.3.2   Modem: BVLPB

SGS

If you need a download-mode jig ASAP, you're welcome to borrow mine!  Works with SGS I/II/III.  I also have a SIM cutter available (Dunedin) - happy to post either to you at your cost.

Hardcores would be the best, since it's quick and has BLN in the Kernal (Enable via CWM)

Hi nofam, did you have a look at Tricky's Kernel guide?

Yeah I did, thanks Neets - I've just always had a soft-spot for Supercurio's work, and was leaning that way.

Will give Hardcore's one a try.  I'm going for the wipe_JPY, but should I still flash back to JM8 first?

What are you currently running?  I had a Doc rom on and flashed a non-wipe.  I've got the Trasig kernel, it's based on Voodoo.  I've just grabbed the original 69 (noted in my signature) becuase the .2 and .3 aren't stable (last I heard).  I was thinking of creating another ROM - WIPE tonight and starting afresh.

I've got the Generation X theme but somethings like the 4 (whatever) lock screen aren't working and I don't know why, or what I need to do to get them to work (it is selected under menu | display).  My thought was to take a wipe version and then apply the original Voodoo 69 kernel after rebooting, then flashing the theme.

Sorry about that, it suddenly became all about me Surprised

Sheesh. . . .women.  Wink

I'm still running the Official Vodafone JP3, and even though I have OCLF applied it's still a little laggy coming off the lock screen etc.

And the duplicate images in Gallery issue occurred again the other day.

My main bugbear is the lack of 2e recovery though; I just hate paying all that money for a device I can't backup properly or manipulate fully.

To me it's like buying a house, but being locked out of certain rooms.

Nofam, if you want the 2e recovery, uninstall your OneClickLagFix and get the voodoo. Not only it seems a lot faster, it also comes with CWR. :>?

Edit, after that you will need RomManager app from the Market. Run it, and you have the 2e recovery. :>

Wipeout, what's your ROM made up of.  Can you attach the txt file that's created when you cook your rom?  Probably easier if you've got it handy.

I'm waiting until tomorrow when I believe version 7.5 will be available.  But I'm itching to try something new.

I went for

Base:  XXJPY Wipe

Kernel: Hardcore's Kernel - K12I

Modem: JPY

Apps:

Launcher - AdwLauncher
Keyboard - Stock JPY + Swype JPY
Base Apps - I went with only a handful: MMS, Radio, Music Player, Maps

Tweaks:

I chose none. Mostly because I had no idea what they meant.

Theme:

Andromeda

Very quick, very nice looking with little things like a circle battery mod, custom icons for wifi, gps etc (when in use), very cool clear notification bar, extended power menu etc.

:>

Very nice.  I previously had the Adromeda theme but found it a little too colourful ;-)

I see you've chosen ADW Launcher.  Had you tried others?  I've got the paid LauncherPro and I hear there's loads of problems with it in the kitchen and it's being (been?) removed.  Of course I can just add it back it, but it's got me wondering what launchers people have tried and then used and why they've chosen the one they use.

So you first ....   :-)
