Wipeout: Not at all. I just click the USB symbol thing and it allows me to eject both drives safely. Click them and the msg pops up with "safe to remove your hardware". :>

Do you mean on your computer or on your phone?  I don't get a USB symbol on the computer, but in mass storage on the phone I get the Android with the USB attached to his arm.

nofam: Just in the interests of thoroughness, do you guys (as a rule) pull your SIM and external SD before flashing ROMs via CWM?

Or do you only do this in a 'rolling up the sleeves and getting rather firm with the phone" situation?

First time I flashed via CWM I didn't remove them. Second time I did. Made absolutely no difference.

Hi There!

I have been using Ultimate ROM, but he has started to go in a direction I don't really like, and whilst I know all comments and support is free, it's not a very user friendly group. I really like the ROM's (Other than the horrible colour schemes and wondered if anyone could recommend a "ready for primetime" rom, that has swype built in, decent battery life, decent lock screen mod and themes?

I meant computer. Basically I do not have issues connecting or disconnecting my phone with my computer.

As for a theme, I'm quite enjoying the Generation X theme.

I'm wondering if maybe the Kitchen needs some explaining.

A ROM comes with a base, some system apps, some extra apps, a modem, kernel, keyboard etc.

The Kitchen allows you to make your own ROM by mixing and matching what you want in the ROM.  It's a case of selecting the check boxes or radio buttons and then it "cooks" it and you download the ROM.  Put it on your internal SD and flash it from recovery using CWM.

It's not a case of building or developing as such.  Someone here could create the ROM based on what your preferences are if you're still a bit uncertain.

You mean the LauncherPro icons in the Dock?  They're very specific.  You might notice that one has two apps/shortcuts.  It's becuase he uses swipe gestures to launch another app.  I do too, but I wouldn't have the same combo as the theme.

Oh, well that sounds slightly less dauting.. I have always just donated to the ROM I use for a while, and I struggle for time. I'll look into it. I was still curious as to what ROM's you guys are using? Have you guys seen the MIUI ROM's? They look amazing too.

No, I hadn't seen that before.  Some very nice features there.  Is it fully English yet?

The ROM's that I think a good number of us use are the Doc ROM's, the ones you "cook" from the Kitchen.  They're optimised and do provide pretty good battery life, but it really will depend some on how you use your phone.  I might think the battery life is great but someone who is a really heavy user might not.

So the "base" of the rom is Doc's, and then the kernels are other dev's work.  There are themes in there, but only what you get from the framework res file.  The full theme (if that's what you want) you need to flash from recovery using CWM.  So the Gen X theme doesn't have all of the animations, anything outside of the framework res file wont be part of the rom.

I'm using Doc's latest, put together by myself, with http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=882800 theme. Scroll to the end of the post one, I'm using the version 6. :>
