defragger: Ah this is lame. Just figured out I have a major problem with Darky's ROM. My camera won't work properly.

Any app that uses the camera crashes on launch. The main camera app works fine to takes photos, but if I try to take a video, a error comes up saying "Camera failed" :(

Any ideas on how I can fix this? Cheers.

You need to install the stock email app if you dont have it.

Damager: Cheers for the feedback everyone re inexpensive/good quality headphones.

The skull candy ones look the goods and the Sennheisers as well.. $100 max is the price range so thanks for the suggestions!

Funnily enough R2D2, I already have the Senn's HD201s. The quality is definitely excellent but the overall maximum volume is lower than what you get with the standard in the box samsung headphones. Maybe the HD201s need more power to drive them? For example the HD201s need to hit about 30% before theres even the slightest volume

Yup, the HD201s take a bit of driving. I did the volume increase mod so they're sweet on my SGS. The SK in-ears are noticably better than the std Sammy buds for my listening style. I also use my own custom EQ setting on the SGS which pushes the lows and highs over the midrange, and I have the spacial set to wide. Not to everybody's taste, obviously, but with my slight hearing loss, it works well for me.

Enjoy your new buds dude.

Cheers,
R2D2

Galaxy S has gone to its new owner.
HTC Sensation running Jelly Bean 4.1.1, alpha AOSP ROM, on Telecom XT. Rough around the edges but showing much potential considering it's pre-beta. My daily driver now.

Wow that's amazing. Didn't know that not having the stock email app would affect the camera.

All fixed now via SGS tools. Cheers wazz you are a legend :)

Shrapnel: I find them fine( better than average ones) and I got them for like $19 which is a steal. I tried some 4 contact headphones(like the ones with Ipod's) and ended up only getting high pitched music with no voice so thats that.

Just flashed Darky's v9.0.2 and it works great, extremely happy. What modems are you telecom guys finding the best? JPY, JPA or JL2??

JL2 for sure.

Could you give me a link to the download you got it off?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10188028&postcount=177

Thanks wazz, flashed it and its working well, gps an all

ive been testing JL2 on telecom for a few days now. have cycled the battery twice. i have to say this is the best modem ive tried so far - standby time is phenomenal on this, 3% drain overnight, and when left on idleduring the day i got the best life ive seen yet - 93% after 7hours at work, mostly text, this is with wifi off, and 3g only enabled when i needed internet access

full charge lasted 40hours, but this was with 5+ solid rounds of empire defence (i cant stop building rocket towers!!!) which makes the phone pretty hot and eats about 7-10% battery at a time. all in all about 2.5hrs gaming, which is unusual for me, but im a bit addicted now. anyway without gaming i feel confident of exceeding 50+ hours easily, which is fantastic for me given the speed and performance of the phone. so wih "normal" use and a bit of gaming thrown in, im happy that the phone will get thru 2 days away from the charger before needing juice.

not to mention extremely fast GPS lock and satellite detection even when partially indoors, clear voice calls, 3G data and faultless wifi (have not been getting any of the wifi disconnection/seeking problems others on Darky's 9.0.2 seeem to be complaining about)

i have not tried JL3 or the other newer modems yet, i will hang on to this current combo of XXJPY base rom and JL2 modem until the next significant base rom update :) which given the pace these days is probably only a few days away ;p

I am so jealous. everyone else's battery lasts so much longer than mine. If I play a game for 2.5hrs my battery will go from 100% to 0%

For the sake of your sanity, is it worth spending $30 on another battery to discount a physical fault with the OEM one?

ok ive just realised i have a new bizzare problem with my phone - all system sounds are now coming from my earpiece, and not the rear speaker. like sms notifications, ringtone, etc. wtf?? at first i thought the volume was just stuck real low. after cranking it all up i realised what i was hearing was sound from the earpiece and not the rear speaker!!

anyone have any idea how this might have gotten mixed up somehow? a setting somewhere, or the voodoo sound mod, or something?? i havent plugged anything into the headphone socket... help!

Yes I don't know where to get a legitimate oem battery for a reasonable price.

What kernel are you using? I know Speedmod has some voodoo sound mods. I have notification sounds turned off so haven't noticed any issue. I might test later on.

Speedmod Kernel, but this build came with the Voodoo sound fix... anyway, i booted into recovery and tried turning things on and off in there in the CWM options and speedmod tweaks, and restarted the phone, and now sound is working from the rear speaker again. i could not tell you how this happened or if anything i did contributed to the fix... very very strange... i think i might leave the phone for a few days maybe its getting annoyed at all this reflashing and battery cycling....!

Yeah, true - it still might be worth getting a generic one off Trademe just for the sake of testing - they're about $15 from memory, and even if it only holds full charge capacity for a few weeks, it's enough to give you piece of mind that the problem is specifically with your battery.

If you search earlier in the thread, someone was looking at a Momax battery - would be interesting to know if they do give more life.

I have two chinese batteries and they perform much worse than my oem one, they both die after 2hrs of screen usage.

Time for a warranty RMA methinks?

Even with stock, crappy Eclair I was getting a solid day at least.

I get nearly a full day without using my phone much. It's the screen that seems to chug the batteries the most. My screen usage is always 95%+ of the battery. for example today I'm at 56% after 7hrs usage with the Display using 95% with a time on of 1h40m
