Hi Itr0nic.  I think there's a video on the Darky thread on XDA.  I don't use his rom.  And I'm pretty sure there's some videos on YouTube of installing his rom.  I believe Darky also has his own Facebook page.  Perhaps you might get some specific details there.  Though I'm pretty sure there's a couple of bods on this thread on Telecom XT with his rom.  Hopefully they'll have some more specific details to share with you.  And welcome :)

This guide which is linked to the Doc an Stefunel's page is very comprehensive http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=926399 and gives you links to all the required files.

The one point that I would stress before you get started with flashing your new custom rom, is to learn how to backup the efs folder on your new phone and put it somewhere safe. Read this http://www.galaxyroot.com/warning-backup-your-efs-folder-before-you-flash/

Also, Sgstools found on the market has a an efs backup function for rooted phones though I have not tried

Thanks for pointing that out.. I had not seen that feature as I haven't used any of the scripts in SGSTools before.. I just tried it now and it does indeed work.. I was not able to find SGSTools on the market though.. I could see SGS Toolbox. What is your secret?

Update - I found the SGSTools.apk and have uploaded it in case anyone else need a copy. http://hotfile.com/dl/101209233/bdd9bd1/SGS_Tools_4.1.9.apk.html

Tonight when I started up the computer I could see a problem with the Internet connection.

Hovering over the icon it said I had excellent signal strength but:
IPv6Connectivity Limited (and same for IPv4).
I had 54.0 Mbps which I think is normal.

I disconnected from the network and reconnected and everything is just fine, but I wondered why it happened.  During the day the computer was in hibernation.  And this has only occurred since I changed from automatic to manual yesterday.  It might be a coincidence of course.

Sorry to open this can of worm on this thread, but wondered if anyone had a quick answer before I go hunting for solutions in Google.  Thanks :)

I flashed a rom on the phone of one of our IT guys this morning Surprised  It's been funny talking about our phones and the others in the IT department think it's all types of wrong that I'm teaching one of them how to flash their phone.  Oh, and that I know all sorts of stuff about the phone but still run to them for other IT questions.

Anyhoo.  He has an Telecom SGS and when it first boots it shows I9000T but then a second later it changes to I9000.

Those of your with Telecom who have flashed a Doc rom, is this normal?  He's on JL2 and everything in the "about" section is as it should be.  No problem with mobile data.  I hadn't made a call nor asked that he do either.  I don't think there's anything wrong at all with anything, except this unusual dropping of the "T".  Cheers :)

Ok. So i rang Samsung NZ today and asked if the SGS could be used on either network and they said "yes". He even confirmed it with another senior tech.  Obviously it would depend on what SIM you used.
Alot of places are out of stock of the XT model so do i buy a VF model and put a XT sim in it. My wife has a telecom phone and I want a telecom SGS for calling benefits. But I am also hearing that there a 2 disticnt models, 1 for vf, one for xt and are not useable on the other. Now im am confused.

PlatformBandGSM&EDGE Band
850 / 900 / 1,800 / 1,900

3G Band
850 / 1,900 / 2,100

Network & Data3G
HSDPA 7.2 / HSUPA 5.76

Operation System
Android 2.1(Eclair)

Browser
Chrome-lite

Its clearly stated as both 850 and 900. but 3G (data?) is only 850

Can someone clear up my confusion please.

Thanks.

Damn can't edit on the mobile site.

Xt is fully 3g wcdma. The 850 2g band is useless for xt.

So dont.. :-)

Damager said it! The standard i9000 that Vodafone sells does not have 850mhz 3g which Telecom uses as there primary band for XT, of course because it has 2100mhz 3g it will work in well built up area where Telecom supports 2100mhz, but as soon as you leave these area and start relying on 850mhz 3g, bam! no signal. http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_i9000_galaxy_s-3115.php here's the specs for the i9000(which vf sells), no 850mhz 3g there

The i9000t is the one Telecom sells has the added 850mhz 3g band

Sure if you are going to only be in built up areas it will work fine, but you never know, what happens when you go on holiday? No reception ;)

Hope that's correct :P
