snowsteve: Hey Neets,

yeah i'm not to sure about the external sd suggestion (but i dont have one anyway so anyway) I did notice that Darky's v9.2 Extreme Edition has the Odin files so i may try that and see how that goes as i have only ever used the Doc Roms and have been pretty happy with them.

Have you every tried any of Darkys roms ? i just want a speedy reliable rom

Yes, I did try a Darky rom once, I didn't keep it for long.  It's a shame you're having this problem.  It's pretty rare.  I suspect the rom didn't generate properly.  Did you happen to check the md5 checksum?  There's a little app you can run to make sure the same (long winded) number is created in the zip file as is displayed on the download page.  I suspect people don't run it.  I used to, but now I just take the risk.

I have a few roms backed up that I could restore from the Recovery menu should things go pear shaped.  I would recommend you do this too once you're back up and running :)

I think your right Neets, however i was a little to eager to get flashing and didnt check the file (that will teach me) i think if the other suggestion doesnt work, i will re flash base roms with odin, then generate a new rom for the kitchen and hope it works !!

Another quick question while im waiting for the flash to complete, with the rom kitchen you can choose between Supercurio's Kernel or hardcores kernel, which is faster and which one has a better lag fix option ?

I see neets your using the hardcore kernel but what lag fix do you use and is it speedy ?

nofam: The other thing to try is:

- Boot into CWM, and do full factory reset, wipe cache, and clear dalvik cache
- Flash your ROM, and then reboot straight back into CWM - do NOT boot the phone
- Do a 2nd full factory reset, flash your ROM a 2nd time, and then reboot as normalb

Unfortunately it didnt work, i think maybe the rom was corrupted.
Thanks for your help though

My signature is out of date, I'm running the latest one from the kitchen, the K13a or something?  It's the Hardcore one.

I don't lag fix my phone. I find it super responsive without enabling tweaks or lag fix :)

Glad to hear it's coming along.  Let us know when you're up and running on a rom of your choosing.

New rom installed and working, although im not sure what i did but it installed itself with german language so a bit of menu fiddling to figure out where the option was to change language back to english, hope nothing else is screwed up by that.

Hi I'm new on Adroid and struggling to get lagfix for I9000. The firmware is FROYO.SRJP3.

I treid to get CF-ROOT in order to swap it into darkys rom although my device is already rooted but seems like there isn't any suitable version for SRJP3.

I've been struggling to get voodoo, tegrak or darkys rom for lagfix but I figured out today the recovery mode must be in 2e(correct me if I'm wrong).

I couldn't find good infos about SRJP3 when I google it (Sorry if I didn't give it a best shot).

Is there anyone would give me a good suggestion for this firmware?

I'd suggest you flash a custom kernel like Voodoo or Speedmod; if you're able to get 3e recovery, then I'm assuming you can get into download mode also? (power+home+vol. down at boot).

If so, then you need to use Odin to flash one of the aforementioned kernels; this will give you:

- Proper root access
- Lagfix options
- 2e recovery so you can flash ROMs from the SDcard on your phone
- Various other goodies like startup tweaks, BLN etc

Search XDA for some step-by-step instructions on Odin - it's a little scary the first time, so it pays to be sure you're doing it right.

If you need a download-mode jig ASAP, you're welcome to borrow mine!  Works with SGS I/II/III.  I also have a SIM cutter available (Dunedin) - happy to post either to you at your cost.

Following up on nofam's post above, couple of links on information and installation guide to installing Speedmod via Odin.

I appreciate for all your quik help!! You guys are legend.

I'm about to flash SpeedMod kernel and yet worrying about bricking phone.

There's no downloadable stock firmware for SRJP3 on web to recover it.

Is it possible to flash other stock firmware and if I do so since I modified it the warranty won't work anymore??

Sorry if I'm asking another noob question.Sealed

have flashed Doc's 9.6 rom and have found that the gallery does not work so can't view any photos. Has anyone else had this and is there a fix for it?

(gallery loads but no photo's show up, or when you click on a photo file the program loads but still no picture :-( )

Musings on JPY

Battery life on JPY seems to be less than JPU, which was 24 hours+ consistently, often 30+. So something has changed, whether it's the wifi not sleeping as a result of noLed 'faking' screen-off or some other factor. Whichever, my SGS has depleted its battery by 25% in a mere 5 hours, without anything extreme in terms of my usage.

I'm going to make wifi turn off whenever I'm away from home/office to see if that helps, but I imagine some peeps here have had JPY experience and might chime in with some wisdom.

The only non-stock mod I have is the kernel which has CF 2e enabled. Other than that, it's vanilla.

I'm reluctant to abandon noLED as it's been a real killer app for me so finding another way to recover my lost battery life would be preferable. Strangely though, noLED was enabled under JPU yet the battery duration was seemingly unaffected, so I'm thinking that it's some other factor at play.

Any suggestions for resolving the issue gratefully received.

Thanks in advance,
Cheers,
R2D2

Galaxy S has gone to its new owner.
HTC Sensation running Jelly Bean 4.1.1, alpha AOSP ROM, on Telecom XT. Rough around the edges but showing much potential considering it's pre-beta. My daily driver now.
