Asmodeus: Obviously not the end of the world, but no camera flash is a bit odd isn't it?
A flash is becoming less common on smartphones, as sensors are getting larger. Also LED "flashes" are being proven to be pretty much useless anyway.

Yeah, don't miss it on my Spica at all :) all my pictures off my old one with dual xenon were just people being blinded, my cats being blinded or people glowing with a haze of slightly blue light

I looked up the Samsung Galaxy Spica, it doesn't have any kind of flash whatsoever.

I didn't even know there is a phone with a dual xenon flash, which one is this?

haha sorry, I meant it didn't miss it on my Spica at all, I had two phones for a while, but have given the Spica to my wife, my old phone was a Samsung s8000 jet :) going from that to the Spica, tbh LED flashes are worthless, they just make the subject blue up close and no difference from far off.  Xenon flashes are where it's at :)

Even so, with a phone camera, nothing compares to a real camera, not when they have to pack such a small image sensor in

damnit :( 200kb limit, tried uploading some photos off my phone, will find my flickr account and post a link to some I took at Hamilton zoo last week

Excellent news - do we know if TouchWiz will play nicely with FroYo?

Life is mostly froth and bubble, two things stand like stone - kindness in another's trouble, courage in your own.

Well it looks like touchwiz is there unfortunately :)
It looks like just a test version of froyo too but will be interesting to see how it benchmarks etc
I am not going to rush in this time and flash it, I am sure samsung would still have some bugs to iron out before the final release..
Will be nice to have flash and jit though and be interesting to see if it makes the lag any less..

My order from unlocked-mobiles.com was cancelled, reason = "VISA Credit card failed secuirty check", another user also had their order cancelled for the same reason.

Kilack/N4: did you pay by credit card?

I never had problems with clove, but you do have to send something with your address on it, like a credit card statement.

Clove do a check where you have to take a picture of a Credit Card Statement showing your address etc. They asked for a Authorisation Code, but when I phoned Visa, they didn't know what I was referring to.

You might need to prove you're the card holder to unlocked mobiles.

Anyone seen or heard about this:

"This official Samsung MicroUSB to HDMI cable allows you to connect your Samsung I9000 Galaxy S directly to your TV's HDMI port."

http://www.clove.co.uk/viewProduct.aspx?product=8BA97BD5-1236-4F21-ACD2-B8E56804F05F

Could be good option compared to the 3.5mm headphone jack AV out, would get ya your 720p HD out to your t.v right?

Bit pricey at 35 pounds though.

Yeah looks good, sold out at most places online :( i'll be waiting for Ebay or somewhere else to get some in at cheaper rates, might be possible to make one out of an old HDMI/Micro usb cable too if we could find the pinouts

Yes I tried it and it seems to work OK. Scrolling in lists is a bit odd, it does a kind of hiccup when you stop scrolling. Flash works but you have to download and install it separately. TV3 news video works, TVNZ news video crashes the browser. Bluetooth voice dialling works but is a bit quirky. GPS seems about the same. LauncherPro works. Overall, if it's really an alpha it's not bad. If it's a beta I'm a bit concerned. :)

The Nokia N8 will be the biggest camera sensor ever.

Nice but not needed, the allshare program supports dlna so you can just play anything on the phone wirelessly to your media player :)
Just like you can stream all your media onto your phone and watch it on the phone too :).
No need for messy cables..

I did, without issue. It was sitting in 'Security checking' for a long time, but I think that was while they were waiting for the stock to come in. I was bugging them every day (including offering to send the documents) so they might have waived that part of the procedure...
