Neets:

Shrapnel:

Oh, cool(runs to computer screaming) :P

Apparently there has been a few issues with the themes on 10.0, which is a pretty big let down. But maybe it's just because the themes in the kitchen are quite old, anyway apparently the black android theme is working on it.

Installed V 10.0 and running Black Android LE theme (doesn't have the clock in the notification bar..Frown), so far good. I used to run R64 theme and that was nice too.

I'm pretty sure there's a link to add back the clock to the notification bar.  Anyone hearing of "BAT" this is what fallen is using - Black Android Theme.  Pele (from Doc's thread) created the theme (with a bit of help from others).

I've been using it for about a month now.  Sometimes not having the clock bothers me, but I've got Widget Locker and one of my widgets is "digital clock" so it's all good.  The only time it catches me out is when I'm using my phone (Android chat) and there's nothing on screen to tell me what the time of day is.

I was too slow, already said you found the link, :] duh

Theres a new Gingerbread build 2.3.3 called JVK out. Doc's Rom already has a beta version of it.

Don't get too excited.  No root access and no Super User.  Chainfire is working to try and get a kernel out which will then provide root.  On the romkitchen chat there's heaps of things they're listing as not working or included.  Voodoo sound is one of them.

Here's the link for the first XDA release which I understand is what's been used in the Beta kitchen.

EDIT:  there's a change in bootloaders.  No one on the Romkitchen chat has said they've lost the 3BR but I suppose it might be possible since the fix was in the bootloader.

There won't be any custom kernels until the source is released which means no voodoo sound. some people can live without custom kernels though.

For those of you who need marine maps for your SGS try:

http://code.google.com/p/androzic/

It seems quite good and you can import georeferenced raster maps from LINZ.

I just got NZ5324 from the Hydro LINZ site and it works good.

Let me know if you want the file as it saved you having to re reference it.

For those of you who have flashed to the vodafone modem BUJP5, are you experiencing any outgoing text issues with text failed?

I am currently on ZSJPJ as PDA with ZSJPG as my modem and still getting intermittent text failed issue. I had been on different version of ROM and modem all having the same intermittent issue with the text. Since the BUJP5 is supposed to be designed specifically for vodafone, just wondering if you still have this issue as I may be tempted to just flash to that modem.

I'd like to know this also as I have texts fail at least once a day using the JQ1 Modem. I also am having quite crap gps perf with this modem.

Anyone know of a NZ based weather app?

One that grabbed weather radar images would be really cool, and then gave you like the past 6 hours as a mov - I know you can get it off the website like this but an app be better.

Cheers

I had been using bujp5 until flashing docs jpj and going with bujs1. . . . Both pdas have been excellent.

Thanks guys for your feedbacks, I might just try the BUJP5 vodafone modem and see how it goes.

The modems on Docs rom kitchen, are they only for the Docs custom roms or can they be used for any rom? I am thinking to just generate a update.zip file for the BUJP5 modem and flashing using install zip from SDcard in the recovery mode.

While on the note of ROMs, anyone tried the "official" 2.3.3 GB XXJVK yet? What's the verdict?

I can't see why not, as long as your kernel supports CWM and is reasonably up to date. I'm not completely sure as I've only ever used kitchen updates on kitchen roms so do a backup just in case or wait for a more certain answer.
