Yeah I saw Supercurio got his voodoo sound working as a module with the JVB stock kernel. it still means no sharpness fix or brightness tweaks without source though.

I'm on JVB now, its pretty damn good. I'm rooted using Chainfires JVK kernel and deodexed. The only bug that appeared was the soft key lights don't turn off automatically but it is easily fixed. I think it is probably on par with other heavily modded 2.2 roms (docs/darkys) and the whole UI is smoother. I was running what's in my signature with full ext4 and this has the edge I think but the RFS may get worse, I can always go back.

Battery thread is locked...

...so I'll put my update here.

At 55% battery remaining, my SGS (JPY, JPY, JPY) was at 2D, 9H, 4M, 50S

which certainly puts the questions over the Galaxy's battery performance to bed. At the current rate, (unlikely as it includes most of the weekend when I certainly send and receive txts, calls and emails less), it'll run out of puff at four days and 20 hours-ish.

Not too shabby.

Wonder why the mods locked the battery thread? That was kinda useful I thought.

Oh well.

Cheers,
R2D2

Galaxy S has gone to its new owner.
HTC Sensation running Jelly Bean 4.1.1, alpha AOSP ROM, on Telecom XT. Rough around the edges but showing much potential considering it's pre-beta. My daily driver now.

Can you see if the rom has SIP support? It was missing from JVK.

Haha, gotta love flashing. Hope fully the source will be out soon and we can see some real developing happening, but I can still flash themes and other bits and pieces with CWM3.

In the call settings menu there should be an entry called 'Internet Call Settings'.

Damn it Samsung! That was my greatest hope for gingerbread. If its not in JVB then I don't think it will be in any other roms anytime soon.

Thanks for looking. Smile

ive found that JVK modem doesnt work well on XT - would be best if you flashed UGJL2, ive found that modem works superbly. flash either using CWM, or if you dont have CWM then just flash an Odin version, it only takes 35 seconds.

GalaxyS i9000T on XT.  ROM: Simplicity 1.5.1 XXJVT 2.3.5  MODEM: UGKG3 Kernel: Semaphore 1.8.0 bigmem, 1200mhz, ext4.

Yep, once you have flashed 2.3.3 and have flashed a CWM kernel eg Chainfires you can flash the modem with CWM, just make a back up in case. Alternately if you have the odin version of the modem you can just use odin. If your changing to gingerbread for the first time make sure you get a version with bootloaders included, explained here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1011701
