Jattennz: Placed my order with Clove.co.uk for the Galaxy S I9000 :)

Does it normally take a while until you get any email from them? Ordered earlier today but haven't even got a email to confirm or anything.

I suspect the timezone thing has some bearing on response - I ordered mine on a Monday evening, had the request for some other form of address confirmation in 10-15 mins, scanned and emailed a CC statement back within 10-15 mins, and the phone turned up by Courier Friday morning.

Happy chappie Cool

RE: Power Strip

Stumbled on this today (thanks NewsRoom!). Really quite a nice little UI add on.

Now when I single press home screen it takes me to home, long press it brings up recent apps, but double click and I now get the Power Strip UI appear - over the top of any app/place I happen to be in the phone. Does quite a few nifty things, task switching for one, even opens widgets from within Power Strip, lets you context-menu the apps for doing a bunch of stuff like sharing their market links to FB/Twitter/Email/Bluetooth/Messaging etc, uninstalling, force closing...

haha nice, I hope mine goes that smoothly. Did you use Airsure for shipping, did you get pinged at customs?

I used a work address for shipping so have to do the card check where they put a reference on my card, have to wait for morning to call and find out what it is :(

Quick Question about the Galaxy S. Is it possible to remove and replace the Touchwiz from the phone? Im trying to choose wether to get a Galaxy S or google Nexus 1. I dont like the Touchwiz at all.

Also, if you can replace it, is it a hard task? Could a complete noobie do it without bricking the phone? :)

You can just replace it with something like LauncherPro.

At some point custom ROMs without it are sure to appear, I'm really waiting on the cyanogenmod ROM myself.

Just the bog standard Royal Mail for shipping, and no GST hit.

Might be chinese version of the phone.  They have a couple of reviews on pricespy, but some of the reviews have been removed and labelled "under investigation" ?fake reviews.  hard to say how legit/good the company is.

hmm bugger. I was thinking if I can find a galaxy S for $800 or a little less I might actually be able to afford one.

Nick, save up a couple of bucks and buy from someone reputable. I've seen those cheap suppliers on trademe and pricespy and they're cheap for a reason, poor service and non existent after sales support.

also - mobicity is $835 if u use the $20 discount voucher. (I've emailed them re:GST I think you don't need to pay GST/customs on top of that price, but I await their reply)

no you dont have to pay GST. my fren ordered from mobicity.co.nz. when the parcel was in auckland, he got a phone call to pay $100+ to release it. he was being silly and paid for it. later contacted mobicity cust service - they happily refund the GST back.
