Neets: @nofam has you jig arrived already?  Maybe mine has arrived but until our building has been inspected we're working remotely.  It could be sitting at work waiting for me.

Yeah it arrived on Monday I think - works perfectly on the i9000, and reset the flash count perfectly on the i9100 too. . . . Happy little nofam! Smile

If you need a download-mode jig ASAP, you're welcome to borrow mine!  Works with SGS I/II/III.  I also have a SIM cutter available (Dunedin) - happy to post either to you at your cost.

Never heard of that - what is the 'flash count' on the 9100 (since I am considering buying one) ?

When you flash a custom rom/kernel, you get a yellow triangle ! on boot, and a flash count in download mode. Inserting the jig resets the counter to 0 and removes the triangle.

Ahh ok. And it does not otherwise affect the number of flashes or anything annoying though? It just a cosmetic thing? Thanks.

EDIT: think I posted on search to early, just found that I My APN data is not set, will try that and report back.

Hoping someone out there can help me as I have lost mobile internet after flashing Gingerbread.
I have a Telecom version of the galaxy s and I have flashed just the standard Gingerbread jvh using Odin.
Have then put on the UGKC1 Modem so texts and calls are working just no mobile internet Cry

Have been searching the internet for answers for a few hours but still no luck any one else had this problem? would flashing a custom rom fix it and if so what one?

Thanks.

You've probably just lost your apn settings. Have a look under settings, wireless and networks, mobile network settings - the correct setup should be on here somewhere.

Thanks for you quick replies. Yes looks like it was Just the APN settings, have not had to enter them before with other rom builds I have done from the Kitchen, (not that the rom I built form the kitchen worked this time so just going to try the standard Gingerbread for a while)

I still have not upgraded from v2.1. I don't have the confidence to put the new firmware on the phone.

Is the Kies Update available? My phone is rooted, has Titanium Backup and One Click Lag Fix.

My phone is a work phone and don't want to 'brick' it or have to muck around for a few days getting it back to work.

Is anyone available to help show me how the upgrading works. I am in the Mt Roskill / Lynfield area.

Best way to find out is to start Kies, check for an update to Kies itself from the menus, apply the latest update then close Kies. Plug your SGS into the PC with your USB cable and let it connect - may take a couple of minutes. It there's a firmware update available, a dialog will announce the fact. Just follow the prompts.

If not, you can look for the firmware update menu item and click on it. That never worked for me though.

Caveat: Make sure your battery is fully charged before you update your firmware or you'll find that whatever battery level the phone had when you applied the update, will henceforth be seen by the phone as "fully charged". (At least for a while - it varies).

If someone wanted to flash to 2.3.etc but needed it to work straight out of the box where would you get such a animal?  Lots of the options from reading this thread seem to have issues or instability but some of us cant afford to take the risk of it not working by monday morning Cry

Give it to a mate who knows what they're doing and you'll be golden. The chances of bricking your phone, though real, are very small. Even failed flashes can almost always be recovered from. Start with a vanilla upgrade and go from there to more radical mods as the mood takes you, or simply stay at vanilla.

The 2.3.4 JVP firmware is just sublime. If you're not on it, you're missing a whole lot of the pleasure of having an Android device. Take the plunge and enjoy.

I'm on 2.3.3 darky rom 10.1 at the moment
waiting for darky to release 10.2 with 2.3.4

heard it's nice but also heard a lot of bug reports in JVP 2.3.4 personally

Also just switched from the UGKC1 modem to XXJVO so hopefully see some better results on that

What bugs did you hear about in JVP? I have found it to be the most bug free rom I have ever used. It solves all of the Android OS drain issues that people are having in 2.3.3

Can you give me a heads-up on the bugs in JPV? I haven't found any yet but I haven't experimented with it much either. All my older apps and recent downloads work without FCs with the exception of Flash on wrc.com.

Thanks in advance.
