david522: Sorry for the late one guys.

The kernel I'm using is MICS (midnight ICS), I find it has less "tweaks" that do nothing like other kernels and uses the conservative governor which is the smoothest IMO. Give it a shot

Ok first download Team Hacksung CM9 B16(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1363593), flash that with CWM. Then just flash Slim ICS with CWM once you've got b16 installed, then flash essentials with CWM as well. No ODIN :).  All done basically and then install MICS/Semaphore/Devil for a huge ram kernel.

Just wondering with the MICS kernal does it also stop your GPS from working? I noticed my GPS hasn't been working since I upgraded to Slim ICS. From quick search people were saying it has to do with the kernal? Wondering how I can get it working because I'm loving everything else.

Hi,

Could anyone here tell me how they rooted their I9000T (Telecom version) on gingerbread. I am going to put ICS on it but I can't find much about rooting the T version.

Thanks

I've managed to root it but can't boot into CWM recovery.

Hi,

Does anyone know what the latest Telecom gingerbread build is on the SGS1?

Have flashed the phone to bits over the last 18 months, but now want to get it back to official telecom firmware so I can sell it.

I used Check Fus and came up with the following - Gingerbread.DOJV4 firmware version 2.3.3
PDA: JV4
Phone: JV4
CSC: JV3

This build is from July 2011, just thought there might be a later version like 2.3.4 or 2.3.5 or 2.3.6 ?

Also, the jv4 modem doesn't appear to be relevant to Telecom - when I choose network operators it only shown Vodafone & 2degrees. Any idea what the correct modem would be?

Thanks
Matt

Yep - that's it - the latest.
Not sure about the Voda/2D issue - Telecom modem is indeed I9000TDOJV4.

Thanks. Followed your post from Aug-11, was v. helpful.

How does one back up their apps ?

Rooted, I can use Titanium Backup, no such benefit for an unrootd phone though.

Have a look at the Chainfire thread on XDA.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108

You might need to flash a new firmware via Odin.  Have a look on Samfirmware for a later firmware.

Then follow these instructions to flash it, if you haven't used Odin before.

http://droidangel.blogspot.co.nz/2011/05/how-to-flash-updateupgrade-samsung_21.html

There is plenty of info about to help you root / flash / etc.

Has anyone got recommendations for a Modem.  Switched to 2Degrees and running CM9. Wont be long (touch wood) before moving hubby to S3 so this is only a temporary problem.  Suggestions happily accepted.

BUJV3 - my old SGS is running on Vodafone, so it should be the same for 2D.

And if you're still somewhere warm, stay there!!  Otago/Canterbury is bloody cold at the moment!! :-)

SGSIII
ROM: WanamLite v1.3    Kernel: Ninphetamine v1.1.0   Modem: DXLEA

SGSII (Now belongs to SWMBO)
ROM: WanamLite v12     Kernel: Siyah v3.3.2   Modem: BVLPB

SGS

If you need a download-mode jig ASAP, you're welcome to borrow mine!  Works with SGS I/II/III.  I also have a SIM cutter available (Dunedin) - happy to post either to you at your cost.

Arrived home Monday afternoon.  First day at work today. Well for part of the day until we got sent home (to work). I'm so cold.  38deg in Dubai, Fricken freezing in Christchurch with snow. I'm sure you've got your own stories. Not supposed to snow here and we're so close to sea. Just not meant to happen.

Thanks for the details.  I'll go on a search now that I've got something to look for Smile
