nofam:

Would love to hear who got pinged for GST as well; still sees to me that this is pretty much a craps shoot.

Surprised

My Galaxy S is on its way from Clove now - tracking it via DHL - should be with me tomorrow or Friday. Unfortunately I got a phone call from DHL this afternoon saying it was coming and that I had been assessed GST of $122.75. Paid it by credit card over the phone.

This is somewhat disapointing but I'm really not too worried - takes all-up cost to $1,026 but I think that's OK given that the lowest price currently showing on PriceSpy is $1,399.

My replacement unit will be here in the same timeframe, hopefully tomorrow since it hopped on its flight just a couple of hours ago.

That's good service! Before you even sent the other one back?

I'm reasonably well known to them by now, so I don't know if they went a little above and beyond for me :)

I wish vodafone NZ would bring these in instead of the desire or both of course..
This phone seems superior though, given the great screen and also proper multitouch which the desire lacks.

They have been rooted already too? tempted to get one.. but now thinking i should wait for the pro version... always something coming...

What's the pro one?  Is that just the full 16Gb model?

Can you read the sd card in windows?
Read on one forum and someone was commenting that the galaxy uses some format that isnt recognised by windows which seems strange.. can someone maybe confirm that? I would definitely like to be able to read the card externally at times..

So... I owned a nexus one for 2 weeks before selling it because i got frustrated by the lack of proper multitouch and the general inaccuracy of the screen....

Is the screen on the galaxy really accurate? are you guys happy with it? recommend it? best android phone out there?

Pro has the same specs but with a slide out keyboard with raised keys...

actually it is a 4g phone and has a flash too...
pictures of it are here..

The 4G part of it is likely to be wasted here in NZ so don't buy it on that account... keyboards can be useful but tend to slow you down when trying to use it quickly so in my books not a major factor.

I would use the keyboad mainly for game emulators :)
If given the choice Id take one with a keyboard if they were similar in price etc... but many prefer without one..

The flash looks tiny.. wish they would pack some big xenon flashs on these high end phones more often..

It's also a CDMA/EVDO handset so very much useless in New Zealand nowadays.
