vinnieg: If anyone wants some black cases(went really fast last time), as in not clear like my other photos, totally black, can't see through them and the gel feels nicer in the one I'm using now :)
(I alternate between clear and black) just PM :), they also cover up the outer silver ring

Have u got any hard case?

no sorry just the plastic gel style cases, sort of harder than Silicone, but not as hard as actual plastic, were you wanting a solid plastic one?  I only bought in a couple of extras each time I buy to save on shipping

kiwijunglist: @Kilack - yes i wish the cam was better too! i'm only running stock firmwares so not sure if that effects the quality, i have minimun lag unless i run lots of apps/widgets, however since i setup adv task killer i don't have any lag because it never lets the amount of apps in memory build up too high.  Do any of the software mods improve cam quality?

No... I have been reading everything about the camera and lots of complaints about it but in this case its definitely hardware.  Just the size of the sensor and lens unfortunately.  Not many phones have good cameras.  Only Sony and Nokia seem to place emphasis on the camera and do it right.  I am sure it will change though.
We will see bigger lenses and bigger sensors and hopefully more xenon flashes coming out.
The biggest problem with phones is the crap battery technology now..
batteries just haven't advanced.....

It would be thinner to use a hard case though.

Yes, it's a shame they couldn't make it better, I'd prefer 2 or 3mp and better sensor/lens.  I'd even say good bye to bluetooth, video out and front facing camera for a better rear camera.

Yeah... bluetooth i like but id kiss goodbye to the front camera, that is mainly a novelty I think.
Yes it is a shame, the phone had plenty of faults to start with but they are being resolved with firmware fixes but it seems the camera is the main hardware let down.
I definitely like having a good camera in a phone because its always with you.. so you can get those magic  there in the moment shots...
still a great phone but would have been close to perfect with a better camera :).

and yeah i agree, id be happy with 3 mp at good quality.
3-5 is basically the max most phones can have anyway without compromising quality just because of the lack of room for a bigger sensor and lens..

>2 mp is only needed if your digitally zooming/croping or if you are making large prints, and if your making large prints who is gonna want to use a camera phone for that? I'm happy with 1920x1080 res shots (if widescreen cmos). BUT if samsung has a good quality 2mp camera and a crappy 5mp camera, which will sell more? i bet the 5mp will sell more phones... Also if they released <5mp then it would "loose" specs against iphone4.

If anyone wanted more data points about the GPS, I've had mine for a week now and i tracked this yesterday.
Seems spot on too me. Though it did stop a bit short.

mishnz: I'm after some advice here.

I'm going to buy a i9000, I have several options.
I'm currently on XT and would like to stay there, but can change if required.

Option 1) Buy the "Captivate" AT&T version from mobicity.
URL: http://www.mobicity.co.nz/samsung-i9000-galaxy-s-nextg.html
Pros: Works on XT.
Cons: Doesn't have the flash or front camera, different layout, not 100% the same as the original.

Option 2) Wait for the Telecom release of the "Galaxy"
Pros: Phone model I want.
Cons: May never happen as even the Milestone isn't out yet!

Option 3) Buy the standard "Galaxy" version and move to Vodafone.
Pros: Phone model I want.
Cons: Seperate bill from other phones in house, not XT.

Option 4) Buy the standard "Galaxy" version version and stay with Telecom for now.
Pros: Phone model I want.
Cons: Will only get 3G speeds where Telecom has 2100 cell towers, (Main Cities, where I spend most my time), I can switch to Vodafone if this ever becomes an issue.

I prefer Option 4, but I'm open to suggestions.

You missed out

Option 5) Buy the Samsung Galaxy S i9000 today, here in NZ now...
Pros: Phone model you want....awesome performance (have used for a couple of weeks)
Cons: Seperate bill from other phones in house, not XT.

Getting one next week. Very excited actually. :>

Any tips on what software or patches I need to run on it as I first get it peeps? I hear there is an issue with headphones and sluggish performance at first. But then you could run some sort of a update and it fixes those issues...

From what I've researched it's a very good phone apart from those two things listed above (which are by the look of things can be fixed). I can't wait to get away from itunes and anything to do with Apple. :D

The official 2.2 (Froyo) update should be here very shortly so I would leave any other patches till after it comes out.
