I used APN backup too. No symbol here. You have added your PIN number, right?

numfarr:

I've turned the lockscreen off with the "No lock" widget, this means you still get screen blanking but just pressing the Home button will unlock.

Thanks, I use No Lock too.

I was in the middle of installing apps (without it's data) when your message arrived.

I couldn't sign into Appbrain from the Appbrain application, yet when I went to the website it showed I was logged in.

This morning it's sorted itself out.

The JPK has some colour at last for the items you see in the Menu screen, and when you power off there's colour (plus a fourth option - Networks??) in the list (flight, silent and power).

I did find this morning that it no longer showed Wifi in the Notification bar when Wifi was on and available, it had switeched me back to Vodafone Internet.

I'm also not finding any difference in lag/response.  In fact I found no improvement on 2.1 with Voodoo so either I'm really impatient (well I'm a woman ;-)), have the wrong understanding of what "lag" is, or I've got something else that's interferring with it's response time, but it's still laggy to me.

The phone is almost back to it's former self (my customisation). Takes a bit to sort it all out when you can't rely on Titanium Backup to magically put it all back.  Will keep my TB from when I was on 2.1 in case I decide to go back.

Terminal Emulator works perfect for me this time.  I don't have to type busybox after the # so that's good.

ranton: Does any one have the APN Settings on File?

You want the file?  Or is it the APN settings you need confirmed?  Those are on the main Forum board for Android from memory.  But I do have the APN file which I presume I can easily nab off my SD card.

Not sure how I can send a file through here though.  Let me know in PM if you want me to email it.  Cheers.

Okay, have the file (*.xml) if you need it.

Oh, another thing that's changed, minor change.  If you still had the default email notification sound, that's slightly different.

Another change, the file path now has "mts" as the start directory.  Now mts/sdcard etc instead of /sdcard as it used to be.

Just checked my nv_data.bin file and it had changed my OPS to KOR as expected. Just changed it back and will now replace the file.

NZtechfreak:  Enjoying Chrome to Phone (well, actually Fox To Phone)

Hi NZtechfreak.  I was looking for FF in the Market and there's only a "pretend I'm using FF" app.  I've also installed the C2P and the extension on my computer.  But I'm using Opera on my phone and would like to go to FF.

Can you tell me the exact name of the FF app you're running.  Cheers.

apparently the symbol problem i am having is something to do with sim tool kit.. if i remove it by using root power (lol) it will dissapear.. not sure if i want to remove simtoolkit permanently tho...

assuming its something to do with no longer having the CSC VNZJH2...

should i paste my backed up EFS folder over the newly created EFS folder?

It will be Vodafone's customisation code on your SIM that isn't working in the new environment for whatever reason. Yes it could be missing the Vodafone CSC. You could try restoring the EFS files but I don't think it would make any difference. If you do make sure you reset the file owner and delete the MD5 file as described in this thread.

DrD: The Kies update to v1.5.3.10093.31 is still updating...
I must have clicked the retry button over 100 times... on the "The Internet is disconnected" dialog.
Kies update is plain busted!

@100% and 211703/68657 KB
currently on the file SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones.exe.cab

Who know how much longer it has to go...

I'll post an update when it finishes.

Do you have any CPU-intensive things running in the background? I had a *terrible* time with the Acer equivalent of Kies until I suspended BOINC processing. Seti@Home and Climateprediction.net, running in BOINC, were consuming CPU the ACER app needed to drive the USB data connection.

As soon as I suspended BOINC, all my Acer update issues disappeared. It was driving me *crazy*.

My Kies that came with the phone is V1.5.1.10062

Does it make much difference that I don't have the latest?

I mean this software is crap. I don't see why I needed at all.

BTW, after checking for updates through the update function of Kies, it tells me that it's the latest available. hahaha...

Yes it is rubbish really. You only really need it for:
a) syncing with desktop Outlook rather than Exchange or Google mail/calendar
b) official firmware updates

It has media managers too but there are much better ones available, I use MediaMonkey.

Chrome to Phone is the phone app, and then you use the extension Fox to Phone in Firefox.

Yeah my friend is using a third party software also. I will wait for Froyo to come out and start making changes then. heh... Do I need the latest Kies update to get Froyo tho? Can I not download it from Samsung directly when it comes out?
