Just wondering if anyone is using the jm9 firmware ? I was thinking of giving it a whirl, im on the stock Optus JG4 firmware at the moment and want to see if it give any performance increase over the stock firmware. I dont want to try the leaked froyo firmwares, would rather wait for the final version. Cheers

Telecom just sent out a press release confirming the Samsung Galaxy S will be available "in time for Christmas": Android gathers pace as Telecom launches new phones Telecom is boosting its range of Android smartphones to nine in the coming months, as worldwide sales of the Google-developed mobile platform outpace rivals. There are around 75,000 apps currently available, and this is growing each day. That's an Aussie forum, much like this one, but since your (and my) phone is originally Optus, it's quite good to keep an eye on what they're talking about since they're all coming from the same state of play (on the phone). Anyway, that link provides a search within one of their threads of a person who was going to try JM9. I haven't tried JM9 yet but from what I've read it is supposed to be good. I'm tempted to give it a go tonight, just need to install windows I guess.

JJ1 is out now... might skip JM9. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=804625 It's a variant though... so might wait and hope an i9000 version is released.

freitasm: Telecom just sent out a press release confirming the Samsung Galaxy S will be available "in time for Christmas": I actually noticed this today as well, was watching one of the newer telecom adverts 12 seconds in, Galaxy S :) I have moved across the ditch. Now residing in Melbourne as a VOIP/Video Technical Trainer/Engineer.

I'm really getting sick of Kies. Now it doesn't recognise my phone... This happened after I've installed Launcher Pro. After I connect the USB cable to my laptop I get the following msg on my phone: PC connectivity is only available on idle screen. Close running applications. Any suggestions peeps?

USB Connection doesn't work with launcher pro (or non standard launchers) running Download homeswitcher from the market Make TWLauncher the default launcher and switch to it. Plug usb cable in while on twlauncher home screen, now kies will work. This problem apparently goes away in Froyo. Yes, I can confirm on Froyo, running LauncherPro as my default, I am able to connect the phone to Kies without it having a hissy fit that TWLauncher isn't the default. Of course I still can't get the new version of Kies installed on my home laptop (Vista) though it's running on my work computer (Win7) and my work laptop (XP Professional). Let's hope that Samsung will attend to this POS software to make it more user friendly after the release of Froyo. God, I was complaining about iTunes. Little that I knew. lol

This was one of my big hesitations about getting a Samsung Galaxy S and giving up my Nexus One. These Windows-only updating apps universally suqq Rs. Whereas the Nexus One with the Android SDK on Windows or Linux was so simple, straightforward and 100% functional. I'll probably be moving on from the Galxy S if the update to Froyo doesn't address its issues. It's almost a great phone...and I want a great phone. If you're not curious, your brain is already dying...if not dead. Yeah, lack of Froyo is becoming a pain. Linuxluver - what phone would you move on to? Galaxy S has so much untapped potential - I hope it does get tapped soon! The whole Android update process is pretty bad really. We are lucky to even get leaked roms. I have to commend Microsoft for enforcing WP7 updates similar to Apple. Google needs to grow a pair and stand up to the carriers.
