kiwijunglist:
You can install a toggle widget to enable / disable 3g.  Try quick settings app (free), apntoggle (free) or use switchpro app (~$1-2)

Also in Froyo toggling 3G is built in to the power button menu ("Data network mode").

Seems like if I am in a call and I click the back button, when I go back into the phone app, I don't have a hang up button any more? Anyone else replicate that problem?

Finally 'joined the club' so to speak, with Noel Leeming's deal over the weekend.  Couple of quick questions:

- What brand of microSDHC should I be looking at (I'm thinking A-Data or SanDisk?), and is the class important, particularly with Froyo's ability to store apps on it

- My firmware is JH1, which I thought was quite back-levelled, yet Kies says there are no updates available?

- Does anyone need a stiff drink and a liedown after using Kies?  My God it's awful!!!  Reminds me of those HP printer suites that are inflicted on people.

Hi, I'm not 100% sure I understand the scenario, but I remember when I first got the phone I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to hang up a call, and someone told me that if you drag down the notification bar you'll see the option there to hang up (end call).  Might be what you're after.

Too funny about Kies.  Except it's true!  Kies is rubbish.

As for microSDHC, mine is a SanDisk one but I've had it from my previous phone and can't give any valid reason for choosing that brand other than it's the most (in my mind) respected and well-known brand.

Ok well that works, last fecking place I'd look. Android just seems unintuitive to me in lots of places! Why should you need to do that! Nonsense!

Thanks for the information though!

Hi There!

I don't think I can stand to not have the Froyo for my Phone. I have done LOTS of ROM flashing, but embarrassingly I am finding the Android flashing processes to be way way complicated. I was wondering if someone might be kind enough to assist me via PM with what I need to do to get operational? Though I have done some reading, the terminology is confusing the hell out of me!

I have ECLAIR.SRJH1

check for youtube tutorials, and lots of guides already on xda. if it seems too complicated, then you shouldn't be doing it and should wait for upgrade via kies. getting someone to help you would be getting someone to help you brick your phone, unless you have a very specific question. also what is it about froyo upgrade that you desperately need??

kiwi: thanks, the problem is knowing which FAQ's. tutorials, etc currently apply. They seem to be superceeded or new methods are out all the time!

it will always be superceeded if you want the latest, because that is the definition of the latest ;) the latest is not the best, you want something that has been around for a while so other people have tried it and been the guinea pigs.

I thought one of these looked good, with the other option just being to wait for kies to do it.

Ordered a sgs from Noel Lemmings on Sat - told it was on back order, went in today and found out that they won't be getting any more in until at least 7 november!!!. Samsung were rung and apparently told the salesman that there were none in the country.

was told to come back on the 10th - must be still being built --  maybe it will include 2.2?
