Kelem: Just entering *#9900# will run that function, not sure why in all the extra #* 's ?

Does it only work on stock sgs2 roms? I am using CM7 and i dont get anything when i type *#9900#.

It's working on mine and i'm running Checkrom Revolution HD. So yes it must work on some non stock roms.

lokhor: What modem do you use on XT?

I'm currently running KG5, previously KI3. I find both fine, but I live within an urban area and don't often leave it so don't really put them to the test. My main reason for trying other modems is for wifi range. Some seem to work better than others, and KG5 seems to give me the best range.

Because that was the original code I was given and that's how I remember it. I keep forgetting the short version. ;)

I don't think it'll work on CM or MIUI. They're not based on Samsung sources, so won't use Samsung codes.

That's most likely a kernel problem. I know that Siyah had some clock issues for a little while, which were fixed in code.

I'm not sure which kernel Dlev 2.1 is using. 3.0 uses a recent Ninphetamine build, which might be a bit better. Have a check (Settings > About phone > Kernel version) to see if it's the latest build, and if not then try upgrading. You could also take a look at SpeedMod (very stable kernel) or Siyah (lots of CPU governor flexibility) to see if they suit you better.

Thanks NZgeek, its Siyah V1.8 so maybe thats the issue? I see Dlev is dropping 3.1 tomorrow so I might wait and load that up.

What sort of battery life are you guys seeing? standby + screen time would be most useful. So far I haven't been able to get a full day (18hrs) of life yet, and it dies after around 2.5hrs of screen time and 12-14hrs total on time.

It's quite possible. Siyah has been a bit hit-and-miss in terms of quality - sometimes you get a version that works nicely (e.g. 2.1 beta 5, which I'm running right now), and other times you get versions with bugs.

If you're not in a hurry, wait for Dlev 3.1 to drop. That should be using Ninphetamine 2.1.3, which has been around for a while and appears to be fairly stable (as well as supporting things like BLN support). If you want the problem fixed sooner rather than later, you can either download Ninphetamine yourself, or look at SpeedMod. Either one should work better for you than Siyah 1.8.

Flashed Ninphetamine yesterday and this morning the time is still spot on so it seems I had an issue with Siyah kernal, thanks again.

Dlev's 3.1.

If you haven't rooted already, flash something like Hardcore's Speedmod with Odin, and then flash Dlev's from CWM recovery.

Life is mostly froth and bubble, two things stand like stone - kindness in another's trouble, courage in your own.

SGSIII
ROM: WanamLite v1.3    Kernel: Ninphetamine v1.1.0   Modem: DXLEA

SGSII (Now belongs to SWMBO)
ROM: WanamLite v12     Kernel: Siyah v3.3.2   Modem: BVLPB

SGS

If you need a download-mode jig ASAP, you're welcome to borrow mine!  Works with SGS I/II/III.  I also have a SIM cutter available (Dunedin) - happy to post either to you at your cost.
