Chex: Bit of a pedantic question here. Installed Dlev 3.1 last night and having fun setting it all up today, the only thing I cant seem to find an option for is the black and white icons in the contact list. Not sure if this is a 2.3.5 feature of part of the custom rom. I would like to set all the icons to the white value so far it seems I cant tell what makes them change to the black ones which are too dark imo, I looked into individual settings and the group settings with no luck.

P.S. Loving the Dlev, Siyah combination. Had 1% battery drain overnight - thats a first

Still found nothing on XDA about this or google searching 2.3.5, come up with 2 more issues I cant resolve after 2 days of use.

Even though I turn off the Overscroll glow effect in Deluxe settings it is still there after reboot.
-Edit 2 Overscroll seems to have dissapeared again after reboot flashing modem must be Dlev bug

My messages seem to be using only my sim contacts, I was able to turn this to only use phone contacts in 2.3.3 but cant find a setting for this in contacts or messages.

-----

Side note: great idle battery use but using the phone e.g just the stock music player for 20 mins drains the battery 8% which is far more than the stock rom used to use. - Nofam maybe you could explain the clock/volt settings in your signature or which init.d you use if you do. I read through on XDA and yet again there are just so many a good place to start would be helpful

After two days of use I think im the only one here who is getting terrible signal and wifi off XXKG5 - vodafone network in Wellington CBD. Is the XXKG2 same as the DOKG2 the phone came with as I will probably swap to that unless anyone has any suggestions of something else to try.
-Flashed DOKG2 back in and immediately got full bars from one bar and 500-700kbs on wifi. Here is the CWM file if anyone is interested.

Quick question regarding titanium backup. I backed up everything to /mnt/sdcard/titaniumbackup. Then I factory reset, flashed a new rom and reinstalled titanium backup. However it doesn't seem to recognize all the apps that I backed up. I can see the files in the back up location (i.e. Angry Birds) but when I go to restore,  not all of those apps appear in the list of apps/data to restore. I assume I must have missed a step/done something wrong/misunderstood... which is it? :)

Cheers
Tony

Kelem: FYI i am on XT and KG5 is working pretty good (best i have found) in a place with really bad reception, probably going to port the number to Vodafone if i end up staying in NZ, everyone else (Vodafone) has fantastic reception here.

Also using KG5 and on XT.  No problems whatsoever :)

In my own defence, I did read almost 90% of your FAQ very carefully and I want to thank you for your work. XDA is so large to search through which can makes one noob headche searching all over the place for simple and yet hard to find answers.

That's ok, thanks.

A final quick question. what would you suggest the modem i use under vodafone service? I see some people suggest the KG5? is that strong in signal and easy on batt?

Ta

KG5 is highly thought of; but it's no great trouble to try a few of them. They are all interchangeable.

Just make sure they are for the i9100 though eh.. lol.

How do you guys rate/measure which modem is the best? is there an app to measure the strength or something?

And also for rom n kernal as well? just a feeling or is there some measurable method?

Full HD 1080P recording. Frankton Markets 2 weeks ago. Then uploaded to Youtube immediately after. Good video and audio quality is great. No distortion and the music was very loud via some decent PA Speakers.

I note earlier in this thread people backing up applications, is there not a centralised market or desktop software to sync these to (i.e. like iTunes). I've just got my S II and don't want to enter the application restore fiasco I'm currently facing with Symbian ^3.

Google market retains ownership credentials if you wipe your device, but you have to re-download everything, and of course, you'd lose any data.

Apps like Titanium Backup offer a granular level of backup, but they require Root access.

just a comparative note, using Dlev 3.1, Syrah 2.1.1 and KG5 modem with Antutu Power saver app install and monitoed it eats about only 1% of the battery for around 3 hours with 1 30sec phone call (no 3g/wifi/bluetooth turn on btw). Is that good or bad?

Yeah that's pretty typical for your setup I'd say. . . . not sure if the power saver will be making any difference; I think they usually draw more power than they save through all the wakelocks they cause.

Hold up a sec – betterbatterystats is NOT a powersaving utility; it’s a usage monitoring tool, and a very useful one at that.  Set it check for wakelocks, and see if your other two apps are causing your phone to wake up constantly; that’s what I found Juice Defender was doing for me.

The tool I’d recommend you get from the market is CPU Spy – it shows what state your CPU is in, and most importantly, whether it’s spending periods of time in Deep Sleep. . . .No Deep Sleep is indicative of wakelocks.
