Regiiko: I've rooted my S2 using Brendan's instructions and installed CyanogenMod + Google Apps.

After making the phone reboot via CWM .. it's been displaying the 'Samsung Galaxy S II GT-I9100 (!)' screen for the last 2-3 minutes. :s

I have a nandroid that works, but ... what's up with it being 'stuck' on that screen?

Did you flash CyanogenMod twice as per the instructions? First boots can sometimes take quite a while as it rebuilds the caches.  I've had much longer with some roms...

Most of the instructions that I could find (Including Cyanogen's own wiki page) state "flash once"

Flashing it twice worked. Thanks! :)

Always good when it's a simple fix.  :)
Flashing twice is mentioned quite a lot in the XDA threads. I don't know why but it seems to solve most of the problems people have faced.

i was thinking more of wiping old scripts specific to old kernels ... (see http://androidforums.com/galaxy-s2-international-all-things-root/473285-siyah-2-6-2-dummies-guide-installation-settings.html if interested)

but it turned out that on power it ranges between 200 - 1200MHz, but on battery it utilises the entire 100-1600MHz

anyway flashed 2.6.3 already and the placebo effect has had massive impact

CdTDroiD: My ROM "FluxMOD" is having the best battery life (according to users) give it a shot ;)

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1367825

After testing some 2.3.5 and 2.3.6 ROMs and having major issues over christmas (no reception, no data, force closes and no computer/interent around to fix it) I tried your ROM and I like it a lot. Nice clean and stable.

The standby battery life is awesome I am on 70% after a full day (24h), phone is snappy and having the end of page bounciness back is a delight. I also like the no colour status bar as it goes with every theme.

Nice work CdTDroiD! And thanks for already having Google Music in it, as you cant officially get in the NZ market.

Got ics going :), one kernel crash early on, but seems stunningly fast and stale, had to download Swype from Swype. But all my apps are fine so far.

morocco: Got ics going :)

I'm thinking about moving over also, just waiting for a more vanilla rom

they have really ruined ICS by putting Touchwiz over it, looks like the original 2.1 that came with my Galaxy Spica back 2 years ago...

Yeah touch wiz is the only downer, but even that runs better.

I might give it a shot later this evening, just hope ADW runs on it :)

Have you seen this thread?  I believe it's vanilla.  I'm running it.  Have been for a couple of days now.  Took a big to get root but CF now has a KP8 kernel and at first it didn't but the next time I fired up Root Explorer it did.  Odd.

Having said all that, I had my first FC about 30 minutes ago. Just got back from a run using Endomondo on the phone and it FC'd on me.  Not sure what else was happening as I had it on an arm band.

Edit:  Actually it's the same ROM (comparing About Phone).  I'm using Go Launcher Ex and it works just fine.  What did you read that made it appear not to be vanilla?

Edit 2:  As an aside - my flash count is at 5 (I tried several times (obviously) to get the Kernel to root the phone KP4 didn't) and the Jig has no effect at all.  I've tried twice now and the count remains.

Oh, hadn't seen that trhread yet, will definitely try that one though :)

Just the fact that Samsung have removed so many icons that are in my colleagues Nexus and put so much touchwiz in(i haven't been on touchwiz since about 2 months after getting my phone)

Oh bugger about the flash count, mines stuck on 7 too, but I haven't tried the jig yet, maybe I should get hold of one before going to ICS?
