I tried Remix 7.1.  I couldn't get the Mega download link to work for 7.2.  Perhaps I should have just gone and watched X Factor - haha!

Sorry Neets I jinxed ya! Frown Laughing

Nah, when Neets goes on a flashing frenzy, it's like that opening line from A Tale Of Two Cities:

Haha.  I flashed CM9 on the SGS on Sunday.  That went without a hitch.  The ROM is doing odd things with the Alarm but it's a known issue.
Well I've flashed 3 ROMs tonight.  I guess that makes an average of 1 random reboot per flash, except they all occurred on the one ROM.  Can't win them all Undecided

Sorry it didn't go well Neets, with any luck Samsung (or the ever persistent enthusiasts) release improved builds in the near future. Either way, a GB powered SGS2 is still a damned fine phone. :D

Charles Dickens' quote is perfect, very appropriate for my first 4 ICS roms. They gave me a taste of what was to come and kept me wanting more! I had horrible problems, finally restoring my GB backup and thinking long and hard about sticking with it until the ICS roms were stable. Of course, that's no fun though. :D

It really is odd how it can go so horribly wrong for some and not others. You've only got to read through the various rom threads to see what is happening, yet for me it went very well. I didn't suffer any hassles until today, two days after flashing. Even those problems were minor, barely an inconvenience. The new modems have nearly doubled my wifi range, to the extent that I simply don't care how much battery they chew through to do it.

Edit:
When did the signature rules change? I've been trying to figure out why mine has disappeared - I'm damned sure it used to work. Didn't it...?

The drawback to using this all in one thread is it comes with all of the new updates but none of the warnings haha. If you read most of the ICS rom threads on XDA restoring from Titanium Backup is not advised as it adds more instability. Yes it is one of the first steps in getting  back up and running after a flash, for stable roms, these builds atm are definitely in the development category.

If you are up to it I would recommend you persist at reinstalling it to have a play around and get the feel of it (with a nandroid backup of your daily rom ofcourse) and installing one app at a time so you can determine what causes the FCs.

---------------------

I would also recommend staying away from nandroid installs of roms as I suspect alot of these FCs and restarts are due to the dalvik cache and systems not being cleared/rebuilt properly. In that same thread alot of the FC errors users are experiencing is fixed by performing a factory reset followed by a wipe of the caches (which defeats the purpose of the nandroid backup in the first place).

My suggestion would be to nandroid backup > wipe data > wipe cache >advanced settings >wipe dalvik cache > wipe battery stats >install ICS CWM flashable> restart >wait 5 mins+ to build media >flash gapps 6 >restart >flash gapps 7 (flashing of gapps gets market and email working)

sounds like bung download? so redownload the rom?

Edit: think i know now. needed to bring the inside folder out, but copied the outside folder also from the extraction.

A note to others (maybe a idiosyncrasy of my handset however), I have a Telecom SII which I?ve used happily for a while, my Vodafone phone died so I popped my VF SIM into my SII, all worked fine, except BlueTooth, whereby devices would behave in unpredictable (or not at all) ways. I just thought it was a one off. But I can recreate this issue consistently. VF in, BlueTooth bad, XT in BlueTooth good.

Hi just going to take delivery of an S2 from Telecom, can someone tell me if they ship with the latest Telecom version 2.3.3? (or 2.3.4) or do I need to jump onto Kies?

2.3.3 gingerbread

PDA: I9100TDOKH1
PHONE: I9100TDOKG2
CSC: I9100TTNZKH1

Kies wont have an update and may not recognise the firmware since its Telecom specific, you will be able to backup and restore using kies.

This happened to me too.  You have to use ADB or Terminal Emulator to get rid of the md5 image.  I searched the thread for md5 and found the solution, I can't remember which page number it is now.  Sorry for only hinting at the solution.

It's not the first ICS rom I've flashed.  I like ICS too :)  It's gone fine today.  Of course it's been left in my backpack and not used (way too busy at work today) so who knows.  But as the saying goes, what you don't know doesn't hurt you Laughing

I'm now running v7.3, thankfully as a no wipe update this time with much less stuffing around. My v7.1 started having more problems when starting up. I had to make 4 attempts to get it running this morning after it froze when the media scanner started. The new version seems fine, but is running the KP8 modem and kernel (apparently breaks the fm radio - I don't use it though). I re-flashed my I9100T KL1 modem back though, it gives me much better wifi range. Still very happy with ICS, will be even happier when there is an offical/stable build released and someone put an AOSP theme on it.

My wife's i9100T is still stuck on 2.3.3. She'll never mess with hers, gets annoyed with me for messing with mine constantly. I don't know why, I've only flashed mine weekly since May...

Well my experience with Remix 7.2 was short lived! Flashed last night, all the apps loaded fine again via Google sync afterwards. However i got the following:

wifi wouldnt connect (other users on xda report similar with wifi)
bluetooth kept dropping out
3g/h+ performance very patchy. wouldve stuck with it had i had a modem on my phone to flash, but deleted all the modems on my phone.

Had to flash my nandroid backup (phew) as i was at work and couldnt afford not to have no calls/texts not come through.

Love the look and feel however couldnt afford to have it as a daily driver

I believe that exactly why he switched back to the KP8 kernel and modem, although you can still use any modem you like. If you've still got a nandroid of v7.2 (with your settings/apps etc) it might be worth flashing v7.3 over it, that could be just what you're after. Otherwise I'd probably wait until the next firmware is released - surely can't be too far off...
