BigHammer: If only Kies could be tricked into thinking I have a generic I9100 and not a Telecom supplied I9100T!

I do believe that if you install a generic Kies-released Euro firmware, Kies will start seeing your phone as a generic I9100. This may not work if the hardware is slightly different, though.

And I've _just_ sent my SGS2 away with the courier to its new owner. Wonder if he'll work out how to flash 4.0.3-final onto it.

Be interesting to see what the build version is, the last leak was very stable.

"You are" = "You're" - Not "Your".  "They are" = "They're" - Not "Their" or "There".  You probably mean "lose" not "loose".  There's no such word as "Alot".

According to Sammobile's firmware page that's version 2.3.6.

Ah thanks for that. Thought LB2 was one of the leaks. Interesting to roll that out just before ICS.

Probably a few of them in the pipeline still. Telecom is still on 2.3.3 isn't it? There's probably an update for them to 2.3.6 before they get a taste of ics...

Oh, wow, that's like tomorrow. My Samsung Kies was updated a few days ago to allow for new firmware to be installed...

Dont sit on your PC hitting check for updates all day tomorrow, more like Sunday NZ time :)

Hope no one was holding their breath lol:

And that'll be why there hasn't been a leak! Too bad, was looking forward to it. Still three weeks left in the 1st quarter though ;-)

Sweet. Seems odd that there were no leaked versions of the final release though.

Dammit, now I feel like I jinxed it! It did seem odd though, very little notice for such a major release. I was more expecting another beta to be released within the next few days.
I'm running a custom XXLPH ICS rom already anyway, so delays to the final release doesn't really mean a lot to me.

Kind of silly and quite a ridiculous error on my part, I flashed a .PIT file using Odin 1.85 which was intended for the I19100G, but obviously I have the I9100. Now this bricked the device which can no longer power on nor boot in to download mode. I have sent the device to Omnitech repairs in Auckland.

Would you say that it's reversible ?

Thanks

Sounds pretty bad... Yes, it should be reversible, fixable, but not by us - it will need a JTAG reprograming (like they do in the factory), so hopefully Omnitech can do that. Otherwise there are other firms overseas that can.

Note - there should not be any physical damage to the device; you have just stuffed the software royally. So if they say it needs a new mainboard etc, inform them it only needs a JTAG reprogramming. But decide for yourself what works out cheaper.

And let us know how it all works out - it might even make it into my FAQ to help other people in the future if there is enough good info lol. If ok?

Sure that would be great.

I'm waiting for the hear back from Omnitech's technical inspector for the outcome of his findings. If as you say it simply needs JTAG reprogramming then I will enquire if they perform this service, otherwise if not, a You Tube link was posted two posts up in relation to an individual who resides in the United States who runs a JTAG service. Seems to be the cheaper option at $79.00 NZD where as Omnitech charges $45.00 for inspection, and $85.00 for Software fault corrections, but seeing as they are local I think I'll wait to hear from them next week.

Note to self, in future look closely at files you flash on you're phone. Being careless as I have been leads to a non functioning $800.00 smartphone.

Will get back to you.
