asmcar: Only issue i'm having is that when I go to input text I get a notification in the notification bar saying: "Select input method", even if I have already selected it, it still comes up, i'm using swiftkeyx, and same notification pops up with swype. If I select samsung keyboard it goes away.

I would rather use swiftkey but if Samsung keyboard is the only thing that will stop the notification from popping up I guess I will use it for now..
This is a 'feature' of ICS unfortunately.

I had to?check?to see it was there, had forgotten about that! I'm running 192dpi on mine so don't tend to?notice?it as much anymore. I use Swype and pretty much ignore the notification.

Have you run into any problems running at 192dpi?

Main issue was Play Store incompatibilities. I'm using a modified app to resolve that. Some apps still say they're not compatible, but I now don't know if that's due to the rom, the lcd density or if the app won't work with ics yet...

The modified app is available through the LCD Density Modder Pro app, not sure if there are freely available ones?

The only other issue is my current dialer isn't multi-dpi compatible so is a little bit small. I'm not too worried as I imagine I'll be changing roms and themes shortly though. Currently using Omega v4 with BigBangHD's ics theme. Once JKay and Vertumus release their goodies I'll be using those with a LPQ rom.

It gives the phone a great HD-like appearance. I hate using my wife's stock I9100T now...

johnr: Less than 6 hours phone batt almost flat not impressed at all if its like this I will be removing ICS I don't even have push email enabled
Odd, I have push and sync all running over 3g and in the last 6 hours i've used a grand total of 8% battery. I do have the larger battery pack from Samsung so it isn't an exact comparison unless you use it too.

I've installed the Poland ICS Firmware and it seems to be going fine. Has all the usual Samsung Bloat but im finding it runs pretty well. Quadrant was a suprisingly decent 4158. I expected lower on a stock rom. Pretty comfy running official Sammy ICS even with the touchwiz. Nove and Apex are easy to install anyway so Touchwiz isn't a major. Been a while since I've run a stock ROM. Bought my S2 in September 2011 and i flashed a custom rom the same day as purchase. Will wait until my preferred ics rom developer updates his to the official ICS base. Keen to get back that, however this official ICS is running well.

Installed via Mobile Odin Pro, what an absolutely painless process! Installs root, superuser and cwm at the same time. No yellow triangle as well on boot also.

For anybody that installed XXLPQ via ODIN and now wants root & CWM, The Android Soul has you covered.

I just installed this via ODIN [http://www.theandroidsoul.com/root-xxlpq/] and it went perfectly.

Just did a backup via CWM and now to start tutooing with custom ROMs!

oo here we go again with ICS which is the best ROM!

i've finally settled on Dlev 3.1 and latest Siyah kernel on 2.3.5 for like 3-4 months, is this the best time to go ICS and if so which rom?

Nah they're all crap! Jokes hehe!

Haven't you been reading the recent posts? :P Official ICS just got released yesterday. Previous Sammy firmware leaks though buggy initially, have recently been very stable. I've been using ICS as a daily driver for over a month at least and I'm reasonably fussy.

I'm running the official release right now and it's fine. Custom roms will now all be using the official base, so they should be pretty decent. Just make sure they quote the LPQ firmware base. I'm fine to be running official stock for a few days just to see how it goes and run it through its paces.

I definitely recommend Resurrection Remix or FixROM by Darky..but we can recommend roms 24/7.. flash and have a go and if you dont like it, run your nandroid backup.

At least start with the official stock ICS firmware.

Absolutely. Make sure you save the back-up on a pc or something though, just in case. When testing the first couple of leaks I went back to GB, but not since then.

I dont make any comparisons between ics and gb as they're 2 totally different beasts.

For myself, I'm happy if I get through from 7am (off charger) to midnight (on charger) And I usually am happy :-)

I'm on **stock official firmware** for the mean time. I'm waiting for Remix to come out with 9.8 because it will then be LPQ (official stock ICS)  based.

No. But as always, it's at your risk! Always back up your internal SD to the external SD or the PC.

aaargh that means if i flash 9.6 now i lose the best setup i've ever had, have to get used to new beast and reconfigure everything, and then you reckon 9.8 comes out and then i have to reconfigure everything ... and oh dear if every rom is a wipe rom then i spend my life configuring away ... hmmm ... maybe i might wait aye
